A quick google of tyre prices suggests 60 profile are about 50 quid more expensive than 45 profile.
55 profile at least a couple of hundred quid more
Yep the 55 profile are expensive, I’ve been told but I have no idea if it’s true that Bkt make the 55 profile for Broughan trailers as there was no room to fit 60 and 45 couldn’t carry enough. As I said I don’t know if it’s true. When a friend bought tyres he could of nearly bought 2x 45 for the price of the 55.

Funnily enough, I’ve just bought a Broughan and it’s on 60 profile.

Herron would tell you that they asked BKT to make the 55 profile for them. I only know of one trailer with them on.

You would wonder why.
My understanding of tyre sizes is that the middle profile number refers to the depth of the sidewall as a percentage of the width so the depth of the sidewall on a 560/60 is 336 mm and same width as a 55 profile would be 28mm less, not a heck of a lot, you’d think it would be easier to make a trailer that bit higher/axles further apart to accommodate the 60 profile.

Only place I can see a real need/use for the 55 series is for retro fitting to a trailer which won’t quite accommodate the 60 series but at the sort of prices the internet is chucking my way it’s got to be a limited market when 45 series could be over a thousand pounds less for a set
