Totally different model but I remember our neighbour had 3 either 525 or 625 combines and he described them as "Rubbish" . They soon got traded in for Deutz Fahrs which by all accounts were far superior .Buy a Massey Combine and learn what the true meaning of the letters MF stand for!
Purchase? Even the scrap-man would want money to take it away.
Deutz Fahr are simple, rugged well put together machines with bomb proof air cooled engines, the old brown ones were anyway. I’ve had the Massey ‘experience’ too.Totally different model but I remember our neighbour had 3 either 525 or 625 combines and he described them as "Rubbish" . Hello everyone
I am posting this for a friend
He is looking to purchase a mf 31 combine
He's looking for information on the machine
Appreciate replies from anyone that had a 31xp combine
They had 3 brown ones, swapped them for the "Rubbish" Masseys then got rid of those and got Green Deutz-Fahrs instead.Deutz Fahr are simple, rugged well put together machines with bomb proof air cooled engines, the old brown ones were anyway. I’ve had the Massey ‘experience’ too.
You can't deny it, Claas certainly put more "metal" in their combines than MF ever did. I watched a Massey Dronninborg emptying it's grain tank into a trailer whilst stationary one day and the whole rear hood seemed to wobble in and out as the sheet metal was made of tinfoil.A neighbour of mine had a 31xp when it was going it did a fair job. Covered ground with few losses and produced a fantastic sample. But it was an absolute pig reliability wise. Was terrible to work on with no access. It was when the back axle fell off he decided it was his last season with it. They bought a claas 118 maxi and stopped with claas ever since.
Yes, thats what it stands for. To be fair the smaller MF27 wasnt a bad combine with many replacing MF525 models. Unfortunately the 29 /31/31XP had the same internals until you got to the sieves and the walkers, and although they produced a good sample, were just not built for higher output. It wasnt until MF took full control of Dronningborg that the later red bodied 30 / 40 series began to be built to the same standards as 700 / 800 series machines. I've been out of the industry for 20 + plus years, so do not know what modern MF combines are like, the only thing I know is that there are nowhere near as many about as there were in the 70's /80's and 90's.31xp = 31 extra problems
