I understand that there has been more stolen cattle found on the same farm as the 14 cattle stolen from Anglesey were found in April, are all the cattle on this farm stolen from someone

Near Stoke, of course the owner of the farm is involved, someone has retagged them with that holdings eartags
One would assume it’s a fairly open and shut case then of some good ole fashion cattle rustling and they’ve finally been caught up with.
although seems to be more and more common, stock going missing…

When I worked in Daera we’d hear a lot of missing cattle “stolen” approx 50 a month. Usually went south of border/illegal abbitoirs or to settle a debt. Not sure if any are actually stolen “stolen”

Yes that's what I heard at the time however it seems they went back and found others, he needs to be done for stealing other farmers cattle which are part of our businesses, low of the lowest to be at this, how can anyone ever trust this villain in the future

I’m just wondering how they would prove the cattle were stolen once re tagged with new tags relating to that holding, assuming that they’d also got passports to match those tags. I’m not sure quite how they’d get passports to match but I reckon anyone going to the trouble of stealing cattle and re tagging them would be looking to cover their tracks by having the paperwork to match the tags, at which point, proving they were stolen would be nigh on impossible I would have thought.
Just how they get the tags and passports to match up I haven’t a clue, have never needed to think about it but I bet those who do such things have thought about it and have a plan

Assuming it's all planned in advance, you could start registering phantom calves born to any heifers you had on the holding at the time. Then you would be able to build up a stock of passports and matching tags.

Obviously if he had an inspection, he'd be stuffed. But people like that don't worry about that sort of thing.

Suppose you could but finding cattle to match the age, breed and sex of the passports you held wouldn’t be easy.
But assuming they had done that, the mind boggles how anyone had figured out those cattle were stolen, the paperwork and tags would then all appear correct and as they were from over 100 miles away the chances of someone recognising a uniquely marked animal must be extremely slim.

Good that they have been caught but buggered if I can figure out how

They used to hang rustlers? Can they still do that? If not, why not? Thieving scum will always be thieving scum and a blight on society.

They don’t hang people for far worse crimes anymore.
How many thief’s get caught.
How harsh are the sentences if they get caught and if a successful prosecution is made.
If you’re hard faced enough to go out stealing is the punishment enough to be a deterrent when there’s a good chance you won’t get caught.

My guess is that's what they've done.

Shocking really, feel sorry for the poor farmers that's had the cattle stolen.

Even a TB test would be complicated. Hide the stolen ones, but the stock list would still have the ghost numbers that need testing. The bloke is too talented for this malarkey,he should be in government
