I had a Jacobsen flail ride on for the verges when i worked on the council .It did a tidy job and it would leave stripes on larger areas .

so on review i think the way to go will either be getting a ride on mower or a quad and trailing gang mower as i think the defender would be a bit too much effort in the turns.....

Ride on is definitely the way to go. I doubt you'll find a quad and decent towed gangs for £2k. And I'm not sure a quad would tow them other than a big one.
£2k isn't going to get you a lot of commercial mower though

The chap that used to live across from my parents had a very large, very tidy garden, easily 2 or 3 acres. He had a gardener/handyman/chauffer that looked after most of it but always mowed the grass himself. He had a large set of gang mowers and when he got home from the office at night he'd hitch his Range Rover up and mow away for half an hour.
Think he found it relaxing

He had a Rolls Royce as well, but it didn't have a towbar

Never got having a reserve. Why not just start the bidding at you minimum price! Like I’m wining atm at £1510 however if no-one else bids I still can’t win it
