Have been I think about 5 times, do/did love the buzz for a weekend. Imperial war museum was the highlight for me last time we were down before children. Been once with kids, We walked a fair bit, Hyde park, Buckingham palace, Downing Street an Westminster, in long distant past we have done Tower of London. Took in a few shops, Harrods just to see how rich people spend their money…. Think we either went Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood for food, was good. Expect to pay savage prices for food and drink though! Having recently seen how good Uber is on holiday I’d recommend to anyone to download the app and check up on prices if you decide you want to go somewhere, it worked very well in USA but I’m guessing it will work as well in London too.

Avoid Hamleys toy shop on Oxford street at all costs. it was bought out and now rinses tourists by selling really cheap crap at extortionate prices.
How sad.

It was a high point of a London beef run* around Christmas for my kids... :(

* I used to deliver boxes of my dexterbeef in and around N London, then stop with my Sister in Maida Vale for a night.

Coming back to this as we’ve had our London trip.

We went to the British Museum, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. All three offer free tickets. It was well worth booking them because at each there was a long queue of folks without tickets waiting; if you had a ticket you went to the head of the queue. Better than hanging around outside for half an hour!

At the NH museum, that meant we got straight in as it opened so we could go round the dinosaurs straight away when it was quiet avoiding the day-long bun fight which was only a few minutes behind us!😁
