New Ford Ranger

In this age when we are meant to be cutting down on fossil fuel use isn't it time the government stopped the 'one ton payload' for 4 seater pickups? How many of these large vehicles are used as a car for tax purposes? I would love a little 4 door pickup with 4WD, but due to this outdated requirement none exist.

Flagship this, luxury that...

No sign of the base model for working vehicles... But what's new.

Hoping to collect a low miler 3.2 shortly, I looked for a low ened truck, but ended up with a bloody Wildtrak pimpmobile :( Nothing else about.
I’ve just sold a Ford and bought a Isuzu. Loved the Ford I had and wanted another but they are all fancy things now dealer couldn’t even get me a manual and they are way too expensive for a farm pickup

I wonder if VW will survive the 'It's just a Ford Ranger' thought process that many will have, never mind Ford reliability.
It didn't work for Mercedes.
If VW match the price point that Ford sell for, it will be a winner. If they try the Mercedes route of adding 25 to 50% to the selling price of its mechanical clone, it will go the same way as Mercedes X-Class… down the plug-hole of motoring history.

They are slightly more expensive here but seem to be slightly better spec and build materials to cancel the price difference it seems

Had my V6 3 weeks and 1200 miles now. So far - so bl**dy good. Cracking engine, surprisingly good ride, tech is user-friendly and great interior. Did first long run yesterday with 350 mile round trip - averaged 30mpg.
