I think it’s about loading the higher end tractors with more tech to bump up the price. My MF 7480 is a relatively straight forward tractor with a vario box, no direct replacement is available now, current models come with things like leccy spools and a computer screen that I have no need of nor a desire to pay for and maintain. Granted many who would want a vario may well want all the bells and whistles but not me, As I’m no fan of MF’s other gearbox offerings it left me with a simple choice, put up with the gizmos I don’t want or buy something else, I took the cheaper option.

I suspect the same will apply to NH, there’s probably no reason they can’t do it but most who want the fancy gearbox will also be prepared to pay for the other bits and bobs, indeed they are probably hoping that you will pay for the extras to get the gearbox rather than go elsewhere. I suspect it works most of the time too,
I understand that but surely in buyin a tractor on price if you didnt want sle it should be optional. With these dual clutch trannys that has the next gear preselected if your goin in a rough lane and your constantly revin up and down does that mean that shes constantly changin up and down gear even though you havent changed the gear your in causin unnecessary wear in syncros and whatever else is wearin

Thanks for the replies. Nice to hear customer feedback. Wonder why nh dont sell dc without the multicontroller as a cheaper alternative for ppl that dont want or need it as i would have no need o it
I agree there, it is a gap in their range now but as said above its all about bumping the price up. We didn't particularly want or need the multi controller but no way were we having the scream box so that's what we had to have. ours doesn't have the screen in and is all manual spools so is as simple as they come. Having had it I like the multicontroller and would want it again but for the work we do it would be no problem really without it. dad was initially very sceptical but knew to get the gearbox there was no choice and he has grown to rather like it, he wouldn't go back now either. Ours was actually a stock machine from basildon so was a keen price and had several extras I wouldn't of convinced him to spec from order but now wouldn't be without-front suspension and LED lights as 2 examples.

Ours is even more basic

40 k and so 23 speed
Manual scv x 3
No big screen
No front linkage
No front suspension .
It did have a (pointless for us) exhaust brake.
The good bits were
650 tyres which mean easy 44kph in theory
Lots of lights, and they are bright
Proper baler bar for cameras and monitors
Professional fit of our satnav
Best of all it’s a very calm dust free place to spend a working day.

In the middle.
I have a t6.175DC and its a great little tractor. Gearbox is great and the auto on the road is about the first one I have come across that works well as you can change the point that it needs to change. It's had plenty of little niggle in the electrics and a couple of oil leaks that needed sorting but hopefully its sorted now. Just watch the auto clutch when you break. Had the trailed mower push her down a bank so eased the break to try and stop it over revving which disengauged the clutch which made for an interesting ride to the bottom of the field. After that is got turned off on steep banks.

Seems a lot of these tractor manufacturers are going for auto clutch so tractor drivers like a automatic car
