New Holland dynamic command

im sure it would be fine for a one driver tractor once they've mastered the technicalities of the gearbox but simple and no nonsense it's not, I am left wondering if there could possibly be different versions of dyna4, is there a simple no nonsense version and one full of electro bollox?

I would hazard a guess that the Dyna 4 in the 5400 series is a simpler box to that of your 5613. I think anti stall has been added which senses the load and will put you in the right gear. I can jump a range in any gear with my old D4 the newer ones overule you. I drove a local chaps 7614 D4 for a few days and it's a completely different bus compared to my older 5455 D4. The newer bugger beeped at me all day and second guessed my shifts. If I wanted to make a quick get away it tried, refused, beeped and set off again in a lower gear. Then somehow I changed the settings by accident and had to get the book out i hated it, as much as the overuling and beeping is annoying i guess computer trickery has been added to stop wear and tear.

Simple and no nonsense certainly aren't words I'd use to describe dyna4, I seem to have to study the handbook in complete frustration every time I drive mine. It's certainly not what I wanted of a tractor, something that any reasonably experienced driver could jump on and operate without the need for specific instruction and certainly not the need to refer to the instruction manual.

Really? What's confusing about it?

Ah! You must have a newer one where they have added needless complicated bollox to it. Yes, the newer models have ‘complications’. Lord knows why they did that, because I don’t know

I'm sure it makes it a more all singing and dancing version, fine for a one driver tractor if that's what you want but im sure there's a market for a relatively simple any driver tractor with a decent spec, I'd go as far as to say it's a big gap in MF's line up which is why I'm looking in on here on a NH topic as I've driven a 7740 SLE in the past and more recently have borrowed a friends Maxxum 110 which tick the box for any competent driver to be able to jump on and go.

Seems changing gear or range with clutch pedal in. Modern tractor be a thing of the past with gear boxes like John Deere direct drive, Massey dyna 6' and new Holland new gear box,

You must have missed the Ford Select-O-Speed, ten forward two reverse full powershift, that was introduced 50 years ago for the Ford 4000 and 50000, and which did not even have a clutch pedal, only a tiny little 'Inching pedal' to allow some control while attaching implements and similar manoeuvring in confined spaces.

I wonder what the lag is like on the range changes in the new CNH gearbox,i have spent a day hauling maize in a 6150R deere with the DD box and there is a big lag on that,so much that you need to hold it in one range while loading,if you went up from B to C range, the forager would have long gone. Not a big problem, but a neighbour has a 5100R with a similar gearbox and that doesn't have the power to overcome this.

I thought the whole point of these gearboxes was the fact the next gear is pre selected so zero delay? I understand there will be certain situations where your going up the gears but all of a sudden you have to go down or vise versa, this is where the software will really come into it.

Why are you changing ranges whilst loading? B range takes you up to 19kph, you surely aren’t loading any faster than that!?

I agree there is a delay in range changes but with 8 power shifts and hefty overlaps between ranges you shouldn’t really be having to change range regularly.

Like I said not a big problem, the previous driver just pointed it out,but with the little 5100R not so good when hauling.I presume the CNH one will be the same.

Certainly interesting. Would like a demo, not sure if I could be pulled away from CVX now though....

If the box comes apart like it looks in that Grass men video it should be a easy box to fix.
The SLE/electro command box can require a lot of hours work just to get to the offending syncro/ clutch /whatever.

As somebody who generally fixes most stuff a simple design like that appeals.

Be interesting to see if it is reliable in time.

Yes had T6 DC for a year now. First blue tractor. Gearbox faultless and simply brilliant to use. We had a neutral button fitted to joystick which should be standard.
A range of 8 ps for soil engaging, a range for top work, and a range for highway. No range shifts needed for a given task. What could be simpler this side of CVT?
Tractor itself has an annoying electrical problem which led to another visit to the dealer workshop this week and I hope it is finally fixed.
I would recommend a test drive.
