New Holland TL90 engine oil pressure

Old Friend has one ,6000 hrs suddenly got no engine oil pressure, light on,took the filter off and empty,no oil coming to the filter head when cranking. I'm guessing oil pump has failed,is there a suction pipe that has fallen off,or drive broken? Is it accessible through the sump?
Any advice welcome

Don't know this engine but most are driven from camshaft and dependent on how long the engine ran after failure replacing pump may still result in a lower than normal oil pressure it don't take long for a diesel engine to wear the bearings it may not knock but will show on oil pressure.

He swears it's never had a flickering light, just all of a sudden. Two ex NHS fitters I have asked have never been in the bottom end of one so no help. If it's swappable through the sump I will try and help him out but if it's a bigger job than that he will have get someone else . I know the pump on a Perkins engine we had once had a suction pipe from the pump down, wondering if such a thing has just come off. Probably knackered though

Yes p/u pipe may be problem, had a 40 ser break pump shaft many years ago it had been running flat-out with trailer on a main road and had been stopped as soon as light came on eng, out and shells fitted but it would not run at original oil pressure so short block fitted all under warranty, we never found any metal and only bearings not replaced were camshaft so it might have been them, another example was a ford mondeo petrol i done for a chap who had skidded in icy condition and boke of the eng oil filter then drove it home only about 3m after i fitted new filter and housing [plastic] i removed plugs and injected oil into all bores as it was so dry there was not enough compression to start it even then it took some while even to put light out after starting it appeared to be ok and was kept for several years, my point is it would not be ok if a diesel.

I'm not holding up any hopes. It only does about 50 hours a year now with a grass harrow and a topper so if it will run with thicker oil it will be a result. It's started fine while diagnosing

They are fiat engine aren't they, so iveco. Something tells me out old 780 Fiat dropped the lift pipe off once, whatever happened it broke the crank shaft, and the dealer said he had never seen it happen before so dad asked how long would it take him to get a crank shaft and he said I've 3 on the shelf 🤔

I'm hoping it's something simple like the lift pipe and it's doable from underneath. It was only ticking over when the light came on and was turned off rather than seizing. Quick search,I think it's an iveco/fiat 8045 engine

The oil pump is driven by the crankshaft and should be accessible when the sump is removed. The oil pressure relief valve is screwed into the pump body and it may have a broken spring or be stuck open as another possibility to look at...
