There 15k on D4 which we follow but generally 10-15k on them due to how quick clock miles up.
Just as an observation and noting what you have said on this thread is it fair to be comparing a Navara to a D4 ? The purchase price of the D4 would probably have been double that of the Navara at the time so would it be twice as good? Regarding off road capability I would challenge a D4 against my Navavra auto with BFG tyres and as a livestock farmer on banky ground have always found the Navara pretty good off road, similar to any of the jap trucks suitably tyred up.
I do agree with you regarding the Navara as a towing truck doing lots of miles with a trailer full of cattle or sheep with ours. However I can forsee build quality becoming an issue with age, but then D4s are not without their problems I believe. As a value for money farm truck they are hard to beat and anything else I have tried on demo seems inferior in comparison. Mine will be 3 years old in the autumn, wil I keep it, replace with the same or look at others? I am not decided yet.

@bluepower Totally different vehicles. I think a D4 on BFG's will easily challenge a Navara on the same. Far superior 4wd system on the D4 plus the air suspension giving increased clearance. I always found that 256bhp on tap can get you out of a muddle when nothing else will.
The D4 will never be a farm truck in the same way that a pick up will. Being a livestock farmer, you have to consider the smell of a dead sheep in the carpeted boot of a D4 compared to carrying it in a pick up buck? Reliability after a few years is a bit of a lottery on any vehicle that works hard but find yourself a good LR indie and you'll be no worse off.
We have a 19 reg Navara Tekna but given the choice I would take the 100k 4 year old D4 every time.

To be fair you are completely right I shouldn’t wholly be comparing but we paid sub 30 in 16 for our D4 commercials the Navara with back etc on was 25 plus then swap of tyres to general grabber. I always thought my Navara s where always pretty good off road and they are but 5 times this year I’ve sunk with Navara where a D4 came in towed me and trailer out without sweating I am on grabbers same as D4 I think this year has been a huge test for all our 4x4‘s due to the wet. For job I do bar being able to move more people the D4‘s are better in arable situation basically being a mobile workshop in root cropping etc as can easily get to back of load bay for tools and are more secure then a pickup with far to much money in tools but in livestock roles pickup 100%
I really do agree though I am being to harsh as I do love my Navara and there is a reason i still run them they are best value 4x4 now out there I feel personally but I was just comparing to what else we run with my slight bias I won’t lie but when new where similar money to Navara but far more capable off road and large towing. But a D5 commercial is unsuitable due to price etc so hence the pickups! But like you I won’t run mine past end warranty as I’m certain major components will fail especially chassis so be changed every 2years D4‘s are coming into year 3-5.... Then what works out cheaper As dealer said mine at 2yrs old 100k is sub 10k :oops::oops:

In summary rather then waffle I will keep running Navaras and happily but i Shouldn’t have compared to what else we run in the fleet as they are no longer feasible at current prices and to some not as practical

I see you can get a brand new face lifted top of the range Nissan Navara N Gaurd with 5 years /100,000 mile warranty for just £21500. The face lift includes upgraded rear suspension, bigger brakes with disks on the rear, new seats, new manual gear box, better mpg. Sunfoof etc.

Is this the best value pickup on the market at the moment?

I am thinking of upgrading in the next few months, and always buy second hand. But this has really got me thinking! Reviews on line all seem good too.

Got a 67 plate on about 35k miles at the minute. Averages 27mpg not towing. It’s not a bad truck and been completely reliable so far. However it’s no where near the refinement of the v6 Amarok we’ve also got on an 18 plate with 21k miles on it. That will do 35mpg on long runs but it’s been in the garage 3 times due to dpf issues. There’s a common issue with the same v6 engine across the VW range in that you’ve always got to have the fuel tank 1/3 full otherwise the regeneration system won’t work so it goes into limp mode. It’s a software issue that VW will not sort out but will happily send out their VW road side assistance FOC to clear the error ??‍♂️

I'm sure a resistor placed in the circuit of the guage could make it read 1/3 when empty ... Just got to remember you've done it!!! False economy thinking you've got to 400 miles on this tank and 1/3 to go!!!
