New topper - what's recommended?

Surely an old drum mower would work? Can be picked up for bugger all and only belts and knives to replace. Cut Much better than any topper could. Don’t like wood or stones much but would still do it, pretty bombproof.

I've a Teagal flail one here to sell. Second hand but only had light use.

290's are a fantastic animal. Don't underestimate what they can do. Lovely machine.
Out of interest what reg is yours?
“C”. And yes, it’s a cracker.
Mine was a D but had to change it for something with no clutch. I fair miss it.

Are you lot crazy?

I spent many hours inflicted on a 290 at a place I worked,it was OK but there were a lot better tractors about.

It always felt like you were sitting on the floor.

Had one instance when forking hay out of the back of the trailer with it in low gear,all was fine until it jumped out of gear.Hurtled down the field with me in the back,had to climb in the back window across the draw bar doing a rate of knots.

Never again.:nailbiting::dead:

It's plenty enough for a hill farm's second machine. Not everyone has a Fendt budget. WIll do maybe five hours a year on a topper, five spreading fertiliser and the same shifting and spreading muck. Other than a bit ploughing the garden and drilling up the veggies, it rests the other 300+ days.

No Fendt budget here....not that I’d want one.🔧🔨
