Anyone had any brake issues? I've done 2 sets of front brakes in 30k miles because the front near side keeps binding on the callipers, nissan garage tell me that's just the way it is because its running in all the muck and salt at the side of the road. I wasn't overly impressed with their response and I don't think they liked mine either

I have had to do one set of brakes and the truck is now no 28,000. As you say it was the near side that was worse and binding. Also you’d think on a modern truck there would be sensors in the pads to let you know they’re down so you don’t ruin the discs too!

Father got a new one at the beginning of the year. Does a right mixture of things towing, off road doing 35 on a main road 😤 to long trips getting blasted out by me. Averages 32 ish. Been back to garage twice and waiting to go in again. First trip I blame a pee poor pdi by the dealer . Second trip it was away for a fortnight with emission issues. This one coming ad blu errors so who knows!

I liked mine, was a good truck. Until it got pinched. Am awaiting a new v6 amorak to replace which was only a small amount more the navara and other pickups through buying group so thought it was a no brainer

I have a 2017 Navara, very good truck to drive, tows well, all the toys inside, good fuel economy (28 when towing and around 38 when not, have managed 49 on a good motorway run though). Biggest downside is the Renault engine they put in an otherwise great Japanese truck! Engine pulls well but reliability not been great. In 6 months had 4 warranty claims just for little bits like water pump, intercooler pipes, ad blue sensor. Local Nissan dealer been very good standing by all the warranty and we haven’t paid a penny even though we did not buy from them. Id definely have another again when warranty runs out on this one.

It is not a Japanese truck. It is Spanish [hence 'Navara'].

It is a cheap truck and OK, giving excellent value for money as it does most things tolerably well. Nothing brilliant. It is a work truck and as such it is hard to beat. It is economical, rides reasonably well, goes well, is as reliable as most others.

Maybe not a pickup to keep long term, or, on the other hand, maybe keep until it is scrapped. Too many holes in the chassis in silly places and a chassis that has been prone to rust terribly and I can't see that a simple welded gusset each side helps that issue.

Look at it this way. It is sold as a Mercedes at nearly 50% higher price and they are mechanically identical.

Production of the Navara from Spain is to cease fairly imminently, because Nissan are to close the factory. From then on, Navara will be imported from the Rosslyn plant near Pretoria, South Africa.

Do you study the pickup manufacturers factories and countries of origin?

Is it relevant where a vehicle is actually built?

Wore first set of front pads out at 11k and needed new discs as well. Front nearside was the worst. As previously mentioned there is no pad wear monitoring so get the pads changed every 10k, it's better than having to replace scored discs. Mines a Tekna auto so probably more use of brakes than a manual. I like the vehicle but don't love it!

An assertion was made that this is a Japanese pickup. I corrected that mistaken statement so that others might not repeat it. The Navara is a Spanish truck with Spanish built Renault engines. Apart from possibly the auto transmission, there is very little Japanese about it.
Whether that is relevant to you is entirely your own business.

Aye mine is a tekna auto as well, maybe I should be a bit more satisfied with 15k miles then 😂 it's my first auto but I honestly expected better

My Ranger automatic, which works in very hilly roads and tows a lot, had its first set of front brake pads at its 50,000 mile service. It didn't get genuine pads though because the original Ford ones didn't coat the wheels with dust noticeably at all. The new ones do. I've seen much worse but they do create brake dust.

I've never noticed automatic cars wear their brakes faster than manual ones, and I've owned more than a few of both types. Plus this area is very hard on brakes compared to flatter areas and on dual carriageways and motorways. Having said that, I'm not personally hard on brakes.

The only one negative i heard was fuel consumption is not great, nissan claim there in the high 40s but mid 30s is realistic.
I’ve got an 18 plate Tekna Auto. Very comfortable had a new intercooler pipe and main turbo under warranty all done by PMS in Haverfordwest to be fair to them couldn’t have been more helpful even though didn’t buy off them. Also Nissan UK organised loan vehicle. Fuel economy is terrible actual calculated mpg is 26mpg no towing dipping to very low 20s towing. Trip computer is consistently 5mpg optimistic best I’ve ever had on a run is 33.

Seems to me that all of the quoted figures are nonsense. I don’t drive hard at all, but very rarely see better than 25mpg from my amarok. Previous L200 was similar. But there’s always someone on the internet that will claim their 3 ton pickup will do 55mpg whilst towing a dozen portly limousins up the north face of the eiger at 100mph.

I’ve given up looking at the readout now, life’s too short.
