Any good ?
Which is best straight disc or scalloped?
Easy or hard to pull?
Only have 85hp 2wd, amazone says 75hp would pull 2.5m .

Mine is 3metres wide and scalloped discs with the Amazone air seeder unit on the back. I’m totally delighted with the machine, it cultivates ploughed ground really well, and works great on stubbles to establish rape and stubble turnips or ryegrass in one pass. In the photos you will also see ground covered in bracken being worked down ready to sow kale in a few weeks. In regards to your questions it’s easy to pull on flattish ground but it is very heavy so I guess if you’ve only got 2wd you might be struggling unless your ground is flat. The fact it is heavy is an advantage because it gets into the ground better. If you want any more info pm me. 37DCE95A-183D-421B-A215-3467D02FE41A.png37DCE95A-183D-421B-A215-3467D02FE41A.png274DD99D-7FE3-4CDC-9E84-4E29FB8085B7.pngF7E9F11A-9AC6-4C28-A0D0-BFAF502807CC.png0986C904-8F7B-4030-9B77-FA7E40A5D49D.png11693FB8-623A-4F16-B8B0-E30F945126C2.png7FB23CFC-FC2D-40B1-A287-ED6ABBFAD78A.pngDB49B1E0-7383-4B02-85D9-DB8EA49AF66F.pngA5DE4B38-6C8C-4DBB-A301-9670BD120B39.png

I would say only if they have had a good dose of glyphosate and left for quite a while. Ive done work for someone who direct drilled rape one year and I came in the year after and worked the land over and sowed a red clover ley and that worked a treat. The secret is getting glyphosate, time and animals grazing do some of the work for you. Straight into an old upland ley won’t work.

Sounds like it would do our job, we have an Erth dd but in some situations it just doesn’t move enough soil about. Is the Amazone as good as the kverneland qualidisc for example or are they all very similar?
Any idea what kind of money they are now?

I can’t really compare it with anything so can’t comment if it’s the same as any other makes. For its width 3metres it’s is very heavy which aids penetration into the ground, probably heavier than some of the polish type which would be cheaper. With the greendrill air seeder I think it was 16k 4 seasons ago. Similar air seeders are available separately for less money so maybe something could be put together for a bit less. My seeder plugs into the tractor and varies the seed rate as you speed up or slow down and shuts off when you lift the hydraulics which I would say is essential if you’re doing quite a bit.
