Our family farm rescue Ch5

So I've just watched the latest episode, the Snowdonian camping one and from a planning point of view I would have expected to see planning permission for the engineering operation of creating the hardstanding, landscaping the bund and the creation of the decking as these were not required for the purposes of agriculture. I don't believe they would require planning for the pod itself providing it is taken down out of season; which is quite fortuitous as it seems incredibly out of keeping with the landscape of the National Park.
I don't believe they would require formal change of use of the land as it is 'de minimus' to the main operation of the farm.

In my experience that dome would of needed planning permission, I put 2 pods and 2 safari tents in that needed planning, we lost a season due to arrignol application got turned down, got it passed on appeal. The whole process is a joke imo, the chap from council who came out did,t even get out of his car and take a proper look around. Failed on location to remote, we are 1 mile from junction 3 of the M50. These planners should be held to account. The outcome is our business is now thriving, also local pubs, shops etc are benefiting from the extra business being created, basically 35-40 people visiting our site every week.

As a friend to the couple who featured on the channel 5 programme with there glamping venture, I thought I'd just point out that they did get planning for the dome. The loan did come through eventually and if you have a more conserns why not have a look on there on Web page. They have 2 more structures to follow. If you put Noddfa into search engine you'll find it and that will show the finished article. These TV do not tell you the full picture and its edited to make interesting TV.
The couple have worked had to achieve what they have. Don't think they wanted to do fine dining. It was a suggestion from Adam. Again it adds another dimension to a TV programme.
As for the planning adviser on here id expect you to know a bit more about what your talking.

Thank you for this update. Those who have ever got involved with the media, know very well how little of the picture comes out.
Hope it all works well for them!

Thank you for the update but I'm confused about your last comment. I have no knowledge of their planning history and I just pointed out that I would have assumed they needed planning for some of the elements. I did pass concern that a dome may have been difficult to get planning for in that location but as you have confirmed, they have, and fair play to them! I just wish the show had mentioned about planning because there will be people out there thinking they can just crack on without.

I appreciate everyone has a different view of planning, and so do individual councils so I can only pass on my own experience and knowledge. We have made applications to over 30 local authorities as a company but that barely scratches the surface of the area TFF covers.

We have a couple of sites near us, I doubt either has planning. Both disappear at the end of the season, so I guess they do it on a temporary basis. One looks well laid out and I would happily go there, the other. Is a miserable s*****le with a boundary fence made of pallets and plywood 😒
