Phosphite on beans

Does anyone use phosphite on beans?

Every year the agronomist (independent) recommends phosphite for the beans, but I'm often a bit reluctant to use it unsure how good it really is for the money, especially when trying to make beans as low input as possible.

I think someone on here said it's helpful against mildew, but I can't see that being much of an issue this season.

What are others thoughts?

It’s used for (downy?) mildew as you say as no alternative.

Metalaxyl M in Folio Gold was the only chemical mildewicide. Very expensive. Phosphite seems to be the only alternative. Keep manganese in the tank too - deficiency makes the crop more susceptible to mildew.

Any benefits other than mildew?

Went through crop today with fungicide and 2l manganese as I had it on the place. Hoping the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow will negate the need for the insecticide but that may follow next week if needed, hence the phosphate query.

Mildew seems to come irrespective of the prevailing weather.
Little to do to cure it so best to try to keep it out.
I do wonder if plenty of trace elements would help keep the crop cleaner, buggered if I know what we're to do once CTL is gone, it's been the mainstay for wheat and beans for years now.

Folio Gold MAPP 14368 approvals expire 20/5/20 so you're unlikely to get it anyway. Fubol Gold is the sister product in potatoes (with mancozeb) but has no approval in beans, which is a shame as it used to be much cheaper.

Quite agree that Phosphite products and Mn work well, but if Downy mildew gets bad you can still use SL 567A via an EAMU, not cheap I will admit.
