I've got a tractor with a piton type hitch. Is there any particular type of towing eye they should be used with? Or are they in effect just a fixed pickup hitch, so anything goes so long as you can lower and raise the trailer/implement towing eye? Does it have any advantages over anything else?

It should be a pivoting eye ideally. Apart from that you can put anything on that fits, but not to tight as it could damage it when the implement goes up or down.
