This has to be the most idiotic post on here, ever. If you decide to dress your seed do it properly or not at all.The secret is use a half rate. Often have seen problems whether it be W, B or rape. Its always 2. 2 deep 2 shallow 2 dry 2 wet but never 2 much seed dressing. Funny how spilled Osr will grow on a split in the concrete yard or the middle of a motorway but dressed seed in a good seedbed fails???
Assess the risks of what you have and act accordingly.
Used undressed OSR for years and in every trial germinated nearly a week quicker than dressed seed. Used half rate Cruiser for years and it germinated only 24 hours later than untreated. This has to be the most idiotic post on here, ever. A week quicker? My osr was up in 3 days! Never mind germinated! It was dressed as well!Used undressed OSR for years and in every trial germinated nearly a week quicker than dressed seed. Used half rate Cruiser for years and it germinated only 24 hours later than untreated.
I think the guideline threshold is 5% so by rights that should be dressed. Though I've only ever seen fusarium affect emergence when levels were 50%-plus and seed was sown in November, so there are ways of offsetting any effects.Advice please
what is everyone’s views on planting wheat without dressing, I’ve had it tested but concerned about the high level of fusarium please see test results attached
The bag got wet while in the shed lolA week quicker? My osr was up in 3 days! Never mind germinated! It was dressed as well!
Some of the old seed dressings were severe on their effect on germination times especially in later colder or drier conditions, especially in the north.A week quicker? My osr was up in 3 days! Never mind germinated! It was dressed as well!
You obviously have done lots of trials to prove your opinion. This has to be the most idiotic post on here, ever. If you decide to dress your seed do it properly or not at all.
Do a quick trial yourself by putting some seed on a plate with some kitchen towel and keep it moist. The fusarium infected seeds will produce various molds and toxins that will infect others in close contact. Not What I’d like to see happen in a field that I’m expecting to pay my bills. You obviously have done lots of trials to prove your opinion.
