Hi, good morning,
Yes we can certainly do that, we have supplied/repaired many of them.

Typically it is only the TF933 plain or 933A or 933B models that need conversion due to the now unobtainable batteries originally used. Although we can provide modern replacement alternatives for these old batteries which are more easily found in the high street and therefore maintains the portability of the instrument if required.

The later TF933C or D models use more modern batteries which are easily still found, although we have converted a few of these to mains as well.

Usually we convert to mains whilst servicing and recalibration the instrument (as it involves much of the same work stripping it and cleaning etc).

Just as a guide, a full service (includes any parts or repairs required) plus supply/fitting a mains conversion and re-calibration to original makers specification is £150 including return shipping (signed & insured).

Standard service/repair/re-calibration is £100 without mains conversion.

The above applies to any model of 933 series Moisture Meter.

I can provide the mains conversion separately if required for £75, although I prefer to fit and test it all myself to avoid any problems where possible.

Should you need any spares, I have virtually everything available including replacement scales and manuals or instruction cards - either as good condition originals or reprints/scans as appropriate.

Any meter sent to us is inspected and an ‘as received’ report is provided before any work, so that we are in agreement as to what work is required, regular progress updates are also given during the work.

Typically turnaround is about 14 days from receipt (although that does get tight during the busy season ?).

I hope that tells you what you need to know, feel free to ask any questions and i’ll be happy to answer if I can.

As a little background, I have been servicing these meters for over 40 years and was originall working in the Marconi factory when these were built and serviced - so I hope I know something about them by now!

Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Nigel

Thank you, much appreciated...?

Credit where it's due

Anybody know if moisture meter test events are still running at dealers and grain merchants etc given current events?

It's a bit early for this. I wouldn't normally expect to hear from merchants for another month or so. I've asked for samples from the merchants I do a lot of business with that are near enough the magic 15% to calibrate mine against. Sinar are offering home test kits. It will be interesting to see what RT will concede. I'd rather not send my meters away for testing now I have a reliable benchmark to test against in my Marconi.

Hi, I would agree with Brisel (although i’m obviously biased) as a recalibration/check to original makers specification is preferable IMHO to a sample test where the reference being used could be subjective and variable.

I cannot speak for other meters but the Marconi ones are certainly best set up this way.

Despite their age there are still one of the most reliable, rugged and repeatable meters on the market and are often still used as the reference meters by merchants and mills. The good news is that there are still thousands around, spares are available and knowledge/service is obtainable at a fair price.

Refurbished meters can be supplied with full calbration and even marketplace (eBay) purchases can mostly be resurrected.

If you have a Marconi meter, ( sorry we don’t handle others) then feel free to contact us for help.

Hi, sorry but those batteries are virtually unobtainable now. However we can supply modern equivalents (only requires the connectors changing in the meter to suit the new style) or we can offer mains conversion.

Please see the posts above for more details.
Happy to help if you have any questions

Good morning, sure, if you have a question then feel free to post it here or in a PM if you prefer.

If you would like to send a meter to me then that is fine, you can see the general terms I can offer from the postings above - if you have something specific you need/want then feel free to ask.

Can you tell me what model of meter you have.
Regards

Do you buy them I’ve a got a few lying about here

Hi, I do periodically buy meters if there are parts I need, but generally it is from scrap meters that are too far gone to save, usually because of corrosion from leakage of batteries.

Can you advise what models you have or send a picture, just in case.

Hi, unfortunately from what I hear from you guys this is the case...

It does seem that other makes do not have the reliability, repeatability or ruggedness of a Marconi meter.
These were/are the Rolls-Royce of Meters and if looked after will easily last a lifetime.

I have worked with these fine instruments for over 40 years (used to work for Marconi) and can still fix all of them to original performance.

If you ed help with one feel free to ask.
