Private water supply

If it is dissolving a whole lot of nasties before it gets near your pump, then it is a lot to late to be adding a bit of lime. The water will atill be carrying this and can only be cured by some very expensive filtration.
Of course if you have the slightest concern that such nasties are present, and they can be present in soft, acid, or hard limey water , then you should possibly consider finding an alternative source.
Water in the environment is naturally about 5.2 ph due to the presence of carbon dioxide, it becomes hard after passing through limestone and other materials, you are lucky to live in areas where you have this soft water, it costs many people hundreds of pounds a year to remove excessive calcium and magnesium from the system.
Beware the snake oil salesmen!
No one selling me anything , but it’s showing metals in water which can be attributed to low ph , so correct ph and re test and pray it’s low ph messing with test and metals go away . Or as you say find different source which will be easy enough but no garuntee any better , I’m just trying to keep the job right no one drinks more of this water than me !

The only real reason to be concerned isif you may have lead in the plumbing. Not impossible in an old farmhouse.
It is quite easy to get an analysis of your water and may well be worth having it done to see if you have a potential problem
I would most definitely use a public analyst and not someone flogging filters.
They may well find enhanced levels of copper, this is not a serious concern unless it is very high. I believe there are elctric gizmo’s which will prevent erosion on the pipework, if there is an issue.

Don’t have any lead don’t have old farmhouse , defo use public analyst no copper just nickle and lead , strange no pipes all new pipe work and new storage tank , need to correct ph level to get a correct test .

If youave lead in the water, it is critical to use a filter approved for the purpose. Think adding lime will make little odds. This must be present in your ground water.
It is very important you do not let children drink the water.
I personally would consider buying in water for drinking in your situation.
It is of course perfectly safe to wash etc in this water, not sure about feeding stock with it, I would guess depends on the level.
Most advice re lead in water would be related to having lead pipework in an old house. No public supply would be allowed to have any level of lead. Adding lime will effectively fur your pipes to prevent corrosion it will then do the same to your kettle how tank etc
I know little of nickel

Have been using bottled water for years , it’s been tested many times before and never shown lead , according to the expert it’s the low ph that’s causing funny test can’t get proper test until
Ph is correct , hence my interest in correcting ph .nickle shows up because of low ph apparently .

That is a new one on me. I think they are assuming the lead is coming from internal pipework. If the lead is coming from the source then no amount of lime is going to make a difference.
No idea which test they use do you?
