Home made electric wrapper control box , I will admit new parts , however no professional (or other) advice was taken. And it functions too - bonus
much to my amazement (and probable many others) the electric element of the project worked faultlessly
So expensive for a bit of plastic, think i paid just under £3 for a pack of 100 10 inch reusable ones

Nearly 3p each! No wonder a lot of farms are struggling. Can you imagine if you had to use new tape or bolts, the costs would soon mount up and you will be looking for a place to live once the bank have reposessed the farm!

I take it your son is still quite young? He will learn eventually. NEVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY!! It WILL find a use eventually! Imagine if you had thrown them away you would have had to BUY a NEW cable tie
I bet hes never beej loading scrap up or a lighting a bonfire up and thought 'ill never ever need this what the hell even is it? Lets get rid of it' And then the very next day needed the exact thing youve just thrown away the day before
He is coming 56 so will probably never learn now
I dont even know how you can go through life that long and not have reuse a cable tie
unless you are more orgsnised than me and never run out

Sadly, your wonderful creation ticks very few of the critical boxes that are now the trade mark of this thread.
Many have walked the tightrope of adding a ‘creation’ or a ‘quick fix’ to the thread, and many have perished......
You have used no cable ties, that would have to be reused of course, there’s no ducktape, used baler twine, or rusty nuts n bolts....
What’s more, you are cutting new steel!
.....most hardened bodgers will not be familiar with this material, it’s like kryptonite to them! And to add fuel to the flame, you are using a plasma cutter, another hocus-pocus weapon of devilry to any bodger, furthermore, you are using the creation to make ACCURATE cuts, and make the whole process more efficient! Run!....run while you still have full use of your limbs, come over to the ‘not quite farm engineering’ thread, you will be welcomed with open arms

Baler knife sharpening jig
Not happy using a hand held grinder and flap disc, the ground surface gets beveled too easily.
Vertical post slides up to set the angle, held by a grub bolt. Grinder leg pivots on a spare strap hinge that was lying about.
Blade is held in place on the top plate with a mole clamp and positioned by a couple of welded on bits of cut off set screw that were beside the vice.
Since the grinder pivots around the arc of the blade, and it's held flat at the set angle, you get a flat ground very sharp edge (look closely at the grind blade picture and you'll see the remnants of the bevel I'd ground out. This blade took a couple more grinder sweeps until it was sharpened).
The metal isn't overheated using the battery powered grinder and a 60 grit flap disc.
Away to bale the first of a neighbours silage of the season in the morning

Now that took me back, cutting 6mm, 5 x 2.5m sheets!!! My effort was a box section and bent piece of flat bar!!
This page needs to get deleted to be honest, way too much new metal, bolts, Plasma cutters, Good grinders, Chalk marks, Vices, clean floors, Tape measures, PPE...........the list goes on yet not a piece of farmers friend or a zip tie either used or unused, if this is let to stand what other horrors will we be subjected too by time this thread reaches page 370 ?
