quick fixes, bodges and creations

did you buy that leg thats bolted to the green bracket Will or had you it, just wondering how much is a leg these days is all.
No ,bought those , 189£ each ,they are the one that take the point ,with roll pin hole so they dont fall off ,
Did get some legs cut out of 500 hardox ,to take same points ,but one hell of a job grinding the chamfer off them so the shin fits did 6 ,2 years ago ,to fit a knight raven ,but it has gone now ,

I'd say when you had ground off the harox it made the 189 look cheap..
I take it the Hardox stood up well when you did use them?.
I wouldn't mind something to break up compaction on the silage ground I have, like a pan lifter but I'm not burying the kind of money they are new into one.
Would like to reseted the ground but don't want to plough it as I'm not graced with a big depth of top soil so was thinking of running the PH through it in 2 passes for a seed bed but would like to open up the soil under that for air, drainage and reduce the compaction.
I can hire a shakeaerator but the day I want it I'm sure it I'll be already out and I believe that the ground would want to be cracking dry to get the best results out of one.

@tinman phone David of Erth and he will tell you someone nearby who may do it for you using one of his panbuster machines.
I have one but guess I am too far from you. (Carryduff)
cheers jamj, yeah, your about as far away from me as one could get but thanks a million for the help.
id love to make something for myself but as i get older the time just seems to disappear on me.
i have so many projects id like to do but i doubt i ever will but ill not give up just yet..
i could hire a shakerator to see how it goes, that is if i got the time.
i might go to the show and if he's there ill chat them.

There should be a law against detachable service boxes on water tanks, or at the very least they should come with a few welding rods.

Careful with that it's galvanized, good job though felt like doing that often.

Spoke to someone who drilled a hole in the side of the trough near the bottom, fitted all the ballcock parts through the hole appart from the float, sealed up and connected the float to the rod with a bit of chain. Result a frostproof water supply trough and no service box required.

Water check valve may be a problem now though if inspected

Nylocks are king.
Although it pains me to admit it, we bought a 25kg bag of each size, 6mm, mm , 10mm and 12mm about 25 years ago. It was out of some guy's car boot
Running a bit low now. :(

Cordless drill and a few pop rivets would’ve sorted that a lot easier [emoji848]

Wouldn’t have lasted five minutes with a few cows rubbing on it. Those service boxes are the work of the devil.
