Ram with urethral obstruction

Bought a breeding ram at a sale last Saturday, looks like he’s got a urethral obstruction (calculi) not seen any hard feed since coming here just been on a little grass paddock, in my limited experience of this in fat lambs it’s never a good outcome.
Question is should he be covered by the vendors warranty? Has anyone had experience of this?

Can't answer your question, but for his sake it must be worth treating him, we had our first one a few weeks ago (ignorance on our part re feed) and he has recovered fine, immediate a/b and then ammonium chloride soon as could get it.

I would say morally yes if it's confirmed by a vet inspection. Obviously comes down to your word against breeders re feeding so depends whether they value goodwill or not.

We had massive issues with this in 100% grassfed bulls in the past.
Not one case ended well, unless you're a farm dog, we lost or shot 8/60 but a part of that was my late detection of the issue (too much protein) and that the vets didn't have a clue

The tup had been given AB and anti inflammatory but the inevitable happened today, not had this particular situation before so will call the auctioneers tomorrow to see where we stand.

I’d imagine post mortem and vets report sent too vendor should warrant your money back… just had similar here with quite an expensive ewe bought privately… took some getting there but refunded money I stood the post mortem cost
