99=£495 100=£450 so it costs £45 less to do an extra 1 not £55 more. What do they teach in schools these days must be math cos it ain't maths [emoji6]

You have to have a cut off somewhere. I usually say it will be a little more for a small number and will add on a bit more depending on the hassle factor, travel time etc. I can see the benefit of @d williams method, it would put off the small unprofitable jobs without having to say no and possibly causing offence.

Just to update my situation.
I've managed to find a second hand part at sensible money so having that. Also informed everyone that baling is now £3.85 for this year raising to £4.20 next year, which surprisingly they seam ok with.

Baler stripped of broken bits this morning then trekked off to fetch second hand part, got back at 4 ish and rebuilt by 7. Not an easy bit to fit on your own either on a tandem axle, everything's in the way lol.
Needs setting up but do that in morning.

Well just worked out per bale what its cost this harvest and the figure is £5.20 per bale that's a loss to me of £1.35 per bale !.
And I haven't included my time in that figure, so add that in at however much !.
And people think balings the glamorous bee all and end all of contracting !... I think not.

My quadrant has just had a full main dealer service in preparation for the coming harvest...
and with the prices they charge, I can definite say that my rates are going up this year.. £5 bale or she stays home !!

Farmers 7200 here, used it for years just make sure it’s made in Portugal as the Ukrainian stuff is sh1t !.

We're using the Cotesi 7200. Seems fine..
Had a pallet of 'cheap' string several years ago !!! It was blue and the strands came unwound as soon as you touched them... never again !!
