Red blue bull from Cogent

Anyone used this chap? Any calves out there? Going to put him on Flechvieh cows as he is red rather than blue.

I love them! Udders are perfect. It was an issue back in the day. But now it’s easy breed good udders.

I've got a heap of Lord in the flask but I haven't started using it yet.

A portion are likely to come out red from jerseys but I finish some of mine each year so I figure I'll just keep the red ones and sell the blue ones.

What is the reason for that? Most of the blue bulls for use on dairy cows are listed as such.

I saw that. Does it effect the quality of the calves tho? Or does it make his figures inaccurate?
I assume the reason is that he is not 100% pedigree/pure?
There are plenty of very good dairy sires for commercial use only, because of their mixed bloodlines.

I prefer this on my red and white cows. More predictable calf colour.
Had some very good calf return’s out of Fleckvieh x cows. Easy born and grow like stink.
Use BB more on the black and white Fleckvieh x

It will be to protect the bloodlines at a guess.
I've a heap of cows incalf to Kojak which is also on the list it seems.

Similar happens in dairy, had to sign a form to get access to one of the bulls I used last year. Semen company gets first dibs on any offspring sold for breeding.

Had a tour of a Parthenaise breeders set up pre lockdown.

Was quite impressed with them, might be an option for me if blues are a hard sell again this year.
