Just collected 80 ewes from another piece of ground, all still where I left them!! Taking this as a good day after recent experience, think they were glad to be on the trailer for a while out of the wet

The butcher from our local town (where Mrs YB goes) phoned her today to tell us to be on the look out - just recently they've had a lot of requests from 'ethnics' for live lambs for the up coming festival

Hi everyone new member, been reading for a while but had to join today s I can put this out there!! Just been to collect twenty five mule ewes an a Suffolk ram from some keep a mile from the farm and there is only twenty four an no ram!! Some thieving barstewards have been an helped themselves!!? WTF
Don’t know how you are supposed to stop this as 90 percent of our ground is by roads an you cant be with them 24hrs a day, so pee'd off!! Wish I could catch some fxxker in v act
Not that it helps but we lose 1-3% per year out on grazing to theft, I just factor it in to the budget

Usual bullpoo comes out near any festival, it's the wrong fecking festival for live lambs, they don't want any!! More fb fake news.

I thought such stories were created by vegans, to create divisions between farmers and ethnic customers. However, after joining TFF it became apparent they are created by village inbreds.

Asian ethics have been here for 50 years, I have yet to hear of one steal a lamb from a field. According to media reports and recent court cases it's the white, Christian, East European ethics who celebrate Christmas, not Eid stealing our lambs. They need them for Easter.

Romanian lamb is exported to the Middle East. However, due to the virus export ban, some sold last week for their home market and only made £18 a head, it would be cheaper for them to bring a few butchered vac packed lambs from Romania, opposed to running around farmers fields here.

It amazes me just how many are prepared to share made up shite off FB. I see usually sensible people sharing stuff that is obviously made up and originally posted in a far off country in 2005 just because it fits in with what they want to think.
The internet has given that idiot village gossip a global audience.

You need to wind your neck in @Smith31 .
That wasn't off facebook. That was a phone call from a butchers shop in Scunthorpe to my wife yesterday - they've been asked by some 'ethnic' group (they didn't say what breed of foreigners they were), on several occasions just recently for live lambs. They know we've lost sheep in the past, so they were making us aware.
Now, I'm guessing they don't want them for pets.

All the sheep we've lost over the last 2 years have been taken ALIVE. Draw your own conclusions why.
The bits they don't want end up fly tipped within a stones throw of Scunthorpe....
IMG-20200324-WA0007 (2).jpg thumbnail_FB_IMG_1551648676507.jpg TimePhoto_20180709_111917.jpg sometimes they dump the heads, but more often than not they, don't.
Now, a clever bloke like you @Smith31, will be able to tell me which particular 'ethnic' groups want to eat their heads, want them alive, want ewes, want lambs, etc, etc.

Oh, and while we're on the subject, another lot of sheep were taken ALIVE last night between Brigg and Caistor - @unlacedgecko keep your eyes open, they're getting closer to you.

I’ve had the cheeky buggers coming here wanting to buy live lambs and chickens off me...they are told swiftly where to go

Read your post, you clearly stated festival. The upcoming festival is Eid. So your post was directly referring to muslims.

Some Eastern Europeans scorch heads and eat them, same with feet, The travelling community give heads and feet to their dogs, chinese are fond of bellies, Africans like to scorch the full animal as smokeys. There was an English gentleman stopped at a train station several weeks ago who had a lamb in his rucksack. I am no Paul Daniels, just because some one steals a sheep and leaves a head behind, how am I meant to establish which ethnic group they belong to?

Yes some folk do come to farmers to ask for live sheep and many farmers do sell them, probably the same farmers who send ewes a week off lambing to slaughter. Now coming to your gate and asking for a sheep opposed to stealing them, are two different scenarios.

For future reference when muslims slaughter animals for their festival, it is a sacrifice to god. The higher the monetary value, the higher the religious reward. To ensure the animal is fit, healthy and not pregnant, they often choose tup lambs. Why the feck would they steal an animal from a field as a form of sacrifice, when they willingly pay well over the market value (£200+) for tough fleshed tup lambs for their festival?

some years ago there was some sheep rustling going on and the usual accusations were flying about , turned out it was a group of men dealers and farmers who were making smokies

British farmers had a lucrative trade for tup lambs, this all went when live export was banned. We still have an outlet for them, when the major festival comes around, once a year. The muslims willingly pay a premium for them.

To steal 50/100/200 ewes alive from a field in one go, there has to be farmer involvement somewhere, who has access to sheep dogs and a livestock wagon. I have yet to meet an ethnic Asian who owns a Ifor Williams trailer, let alone a 4 decker.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
