Running a vehicle on LPG (autogas)

I had a 1991 Range Rover on gas 15-20 years ago, it's long gone.
It came about because my ex-wife was working for Calor gas.
I didn't realise it at the time but somehow the gas seriously corrodes the vehicle.
In the end, I was glad to see the back of it (& the ex-wife !) an expensive looking vehicle (definitely not me) that had no boot space because of the tank as big as a milk churn in the boot.

I have a mgzs180 I've run on autogas for around 10 years.

I removed the system from another V6 in a scrappys yard, I think how they are installed and set up makes a huge difference to how pleased folks are with them.

The old carb replacement systems were pretty rough but the piggy back injection systems are very good I think. If they are set up properly.

If your spannery, buy the latest set of regs and put it on yourself, get a obd reader that gives you live access to the oxygen sensors and the software to set the lpg injection unit up properly. Mines set to put some petrol in at full chat so there's no risk of it running lean😁 Then get it inspected so you know it's ligit.

Should never smell of gas?!

I'd do another one, but do have lpg available 10mins from the door in either direction.

You can put a liquid outlet on a storage tank, you do have to have a pump to pump it and pay road duty on it.

We ran several V8 discos on gas some years back.

some ran lovely others always needed attention to get them to work properly, one in particular never did work very well.

but by gawd they could drink the stuff. 3.9 V8 auto towing the cattle trailer never managed much more than 7mpg and struggled to do 12 mpg solo.

used to break my heart running them on petrol and in the 10 plus years we ran them I don’t think we ever filled one of them full of petrol ever.

went back to diesel in the end.
