My saw in the workshop was a pig to change. Agreed with all the advice above I used to use a piece of threaded bar to hold the blade steady, soak the nut in Duck oil overnight. Then stick an off cut of scaffold pole over the spanner if she was being a pig a good shock on the spanner got her moving.

You can get left or right handed threads on saws but whichever one it is will mean the blade when cutting will tighten it rather than undo it. (once stopped my saw by pulling the stop on the tractor, the shaft stopped but the blade didn't and undid the nut. I realised what was happening and ran away)
The shaft often has two flats or a hole in it to stop it turning using a spanner or a bar. I have resorted to stilsons but that is a bit brutal.
Tapping the end of the spanner usually gets the nut started.

as I recall, the left hand nuts on wagons were lefthand threads...if thats any help.

and would an impact driver be the ticket to loosen this'un? (if you're sure of thread direction)

It should be a left hand thread. Jam the blade with a piece of wood, you can belt the spanner with a lump hammer to shock it. There will normally be a section of the frame that lifts out so you can slide the saw off the shaft and remove it.

I have 2 saw benches , with drive shafts on opposite sides , the bench with shaft same side as yours has back hand thread ... is the sawblade been driven fast enough as there is much bigger pulley on saw than tractor which is slowing blade
You need to get wobble sorted as it's
dangerous
A small amount of play on shaft will be multiplied at the outside of blade

I have just looked again at video
You are getting very fine sawdust which is sure sign of problem with teeth which is causing blade to get hot
I will look at video again as it says a huge amount

Yes always fine sawdust. The teeth look fine to me, and were replaced recently. EPS quoted 75 to temper the blade, and i think they will put a spacer on the shaft or something to correct the wobble. Its always made fine sawdust, and it has always felt fairly weak to me. Dad assures me that the ones you see on the internet and at shows are allways cutting pine so that is why they are so much faster, but even on softer woods it seems to be slow as all hell. The wood we were trying to cut is oak.

teeth want to be razor sharp.
Get EPS to doctor that blade, and ensure subsequent logs being cut are squeaky clean. the least grit/soil will take the edge off.
We peel pretty much everything.

I have two blades which are used alternatively with one always at the professional sharpeners. Costs about 20 quid a time but worth the costs and lasts about 6 months on my usage. Unlike my TCT blade which I have never as yet needed to sharpen.
