Anyone use Iodine to treat scald instead of terramycin blue spray. Was thinking of trying it any reason why not and why it wouldn't work, what do you use?

Lyncospectin??Only difference is you get brown fingers instead of blue!
Used it for a while, even added half teaspoon of......... can't remember the name of that powder, supposed to be for chickens, vets don't like selling it much now??????
Anyway with the powder it was getting near the price of the large cans of Cyclo blue spray, so just us that now. Alway keep a few old can nozzles in case one your using blocks.
Lyncospectin??
That's the one, thank you.Lyncospectin??
Always used formalin but as said not very nice stuff.
It works you can’t deny that. Scald anyway, maybe not for footrot, CODD etc. I think most foot sprays are a waste of time. Tend to jab nowadays for severe cases.A very weak solution might be ok, but if it's too strong, it can just cause more irritation. And if the footbath is indoors, evaporation tends to make it stronger, and if you top up with the normal proportions of water:formalin, it becomes even stronger, and even more of a cancer risk to the shepherd.
But it is certainly useful to preserve a dogfish which you can haul out each Friday afternoon to continue to dissect its cranial nerves.
Formalin works for everything including codd, eradicated it here by running ewes through 4 days in a row at double concentrate (like it says) and then stop for 2 days then another 4 days footbathing, stopped it dead after 20 odd days here.It works you can’t deny that. Yes it’s a slow job standing sheep in footbaths.Formalin works for everything including codd, eradicated it here by running ewes through 4 days in a row at double concentrate (like it says) and then stop for 2 days then another 4 days footbathing, stopped it dead after 20 odd days here.
Sporadic cases I’ll use nettex Septiclense violet for scald or if anything does actually need trimming...
Don’t you have to stand them in golden hoof for 20 minutes?
With the Provita Hoofsure endurance can you run through or do they have to walk or even worse stand in it?
At least one minute contact for provita IIRC. I stood mine in it for two. Not a quick job certainly but it worked and without the drawbacks of formalin.Formalin works for everything including codd, eradicated it here by running ewes through 4 days in a row at double concentrate (like it says) and then stop for 2 days then another 4 days footbathing, stopped it dead after 20 odd days here.
