Sencrop weather stations

Does anyone experience a data hole on their app ?

What is this ?

I had not realised that the info from my station is freely available to anyone with the app.
Considering I pay full back, as a private customer, I had hoped maybe a request from an interested party would be required ?

Hi Jon, the Data hole functionality exists to ensure continuity of data. You will see the hatched lines to differentiate from data being recorded directly from you own station. This usually comes about when there is a loss of signal from your station and the system then brings in data from nearby stations. The Sencrop application is designed as a collaborative network allowing the sharing of weather information. Other users can look at the data from your stations but cannot make any changes to the station, it's settings or access any of your personal information. Likewise, you can access data from stations not owned directly within the Sencrop Network - I'll drop you a PM with my contact details and we can discuss further if you like. Mark @ Sencrop @Jon

Hello Mark thank you for your reply.

Do you know why the data hole appears in my history section ?

I have had to update my Raincrop to a new one as the old one was rebooting itself.

I have installed a signal booster in the house as I have had continue 'data hole's, this has helped with the old one , but now with the new one, it shows a data hole in the history tab, which I do not understand.

Hi Jon, I would suspect it's down to a signal issue! Send me the e-mail address you used to register (via pm or to [email protected]) and i'll look into it further for you. Mark

Hello Mark,

How do your stations compare to Cordulus Farm product.

They seem quite keen ?

Hi, @Jon Mark has just been rather busy driving around farms lately, maybe he could pop by yours sometime and have a look at the issue you are having :)

Cordulus is a great product, but the 20% that ajd132 is talking about was fixed around 2 years ago so we don't have that issue anymore :)

To be frank, Cordulus don't offer the in-app experiences ours have and don't have the coverage we have in Europe, we are the largest Ag -tech weather forecaster in Europe and have over 35K stations as we speak :)

We always do appreciate feedback but we work on that feedback as soon as we can, hence the improvements.

Let me know if that would work for you. :)

Hello @Sencrop,
My app still tells me I have a data hole when I check historical rain fall in the hourly basis.
I have your wi fi box installed, this has helped, but my family feel has affected our internet speed which was already poor, and not what I signed up for, which was to use the free signal.

I now find out my farming neighbours use my station rainfall data as an indicator for there land that neighbours me, without needing their own station in this area, whereas I do not need to access anyones data.
I know this is part of your wider network policy, but my neighbour is gaining through my expense, I am not .

I see your issue @Jon, Im sure there is something the development team can help with this, and I will send the report to them, If you don't mind sending me an email I will gladly send them yours in order to correctly rectify the situation.

As for your neighbour, we understand your frustrations, that he is using your device, but in all honesty, he won't be able to use the majority of our functions on his farm as it is not localised to his crop, he will always face less accuracy until he purchases a device for himself. We do hope to have more stations around you to better your experience in time, we have already grown a significant amount within the UK this year alone and will hopefully continue around your area.

Rainfall recording on Sencrop is very poor. As an example here are the readings this morning of local Davis weather stations, some within one mile of my Sencrop.

13.8mm
13.6mm
12.2mm
12.6mm
15.2mm
11.8mm
15.4mm
14.4mm

my sencrop crop reading 5.5mm ……. It’s rubbish

I've ran sencrop and cordulus side by side for a couple weeks now and the sencrop is way out, it now says data hole. haven't renewed my subscription to that one as its just not accurate enough.
cordulus seems good so far.

How are you billed with Sencrop if you don't mind me asking ?

They have always taken from my Visa card that I originally used to buy the first station.

This seems wrong, and the only company that does.

Yeah they carried on for 2 years after the card expired too. Didn’t know that could happen. Finally asked for new payment details this year

Long-time lurker, first time poster here but finally took the leap and gave tff my details! Sencrop must be doing something right with 35,000 stations out there and 20,000 farmers using their application almost on a daily basis! I'll stick with mine until I'm shown anything better! There's also been a new release today in the app which leaves all the competition in the wind 😂

Rubbish? or reading what's actually going on with the rain?! Every farmer knows that micro-climates exist and we all know that rainfall is not laminar and does fall equally over a patch of land. So why do we then argue that, when recorded, the readings are different station to station, considering the two aforementioned points?

Case in point! Screenshot below from Met UK Precipitation radar for later on today - You would accept that you will see more recorded rain in the darker sections than the lighter sections so therefore you also have to accept that, 2 weather stations (even if only a mile apart) within these two difference areas would also record, accurately, what's going on
