many years ago, we had to give a map and were told where it could be disposed of (bearing in mind I did not want to contaminate the house well), I can't remember how much it was, if anything, but I remember having to get a license.

They changed the charge for the volume a few years ago. The threshold was lowered as far as the volume of spent dip went. I think it went to near £900 per year but even at the £273 rate you can still dispose of a fair amount of spent dip

So it's 273 pound a head in England would wales be the same? Still looking at disposing off farm if anybody has done so?????

When I originally applied for them I put down the maximum amount of disposable dip allowed in cubic m. A few years ago they sent me a bill for around £2700/£2800. The charges had gone up. I had to pay it then reduce my cubic m on each license to get it back to the usual charge. Then claim the other money back.

The way they seem to alter the charges on a whim I've been looking at our dipper set up. It's ready for a revamp to make life easy again. I'm quite seriously thinking about giving up my disposal licence and just having a mobile dipper come. Once at weaning, do all my ewes and homebred lambs then. Then the bought in stock wait until there are 5/600 on the quarantine block and have the mobile man again. Save the mither of dip disposal, having to order dip, handling it myself (we have an Animax pump but I still don't like the stuff) it's one less thing I have too maul sheep about for too!!

But it's just so godamn handy being able too dip 150 whenever I want!!

Nothing beats dipping. They do better after they’ve been done. Most folks are on with injectables round about.

never been convinced as too the efficiency of the injectables. Fully agree that nothing beats dipping. But the way I get dip flu for a few hours within 2 days of every dip really is starting too put me off. Think it's the fumes that do it as much as anything. It's an outdoor tank in what is probably the most windswept corner of the yard so I don't know how it gets me but it does!!
