They probably have worn all their clothes out during lockdown and with the thought pubs might re open , are getting stuff in ready!!

Mind you ,one of our locals was part of a small business chain and microbrewery and I was told it had gone bust, So no beer and no pub , either
Who? PM if you prefer.

Maybe The Scientific and Chief Medical Officers know a little bit more.

I think they do and that's why we are seeing a very rapid unlocking now - all shops now open, pubs and restaurants very soon with just schools left (I think its only workshy teacher unions holding that back not government !)

It's clear with hind sight and the data now available that they should never have locked down anyone white, fit and healthy under 60 for whom the risk of death from C19 is VERY VERY small

its really not going to happen if you are not in a at risk group - look at the stats, it's fraction of a % for under 45's and that's including the "at risk" under 45's - take them out and the number is almost zero !

As I say protect and lock down those at risk ......... but not those there is basically no risk to, that's just silly !
I would agree with this , having no personal desire to go shopping again ever ?
But the stupidity of the British public is beyond bounds, my frail elderly neighbbours cannot wait to get together with their son and teenage grandchildren.
The news this morning was full of pictures of grannies hugging and kissing grandchildren they had not touched for months, do these people know nothing of infection control?
An interesting little fact which has missed most of the news outlets, from The infectious disease institute ( may not be its full totally correct name) which collates data across the UK on Infectious diseases. Apparently all Other infectious disease, has dropped by over 90% across the UK in the last 3 months, thanks to hygiene and lack of contact. This includes measles, mumps, rubella, norovirus etc.

The problem arises for the poor sods who SHOULD be on the "at risk" register, but aren't.

My Hon BiL was very, very ill with CV19, happily, he pulled through and left IC after 4 days and so far, has not seen too many of teh lingering after effects that seem to occur after Covid. He is probably the fittest 55 people I know... not high risk at all.

I agree - my (over 70) parents would be certifiable to start shopping at TK maxx or mixing with others, they need to remain VERY cautious and in lockdown until a vaccine is available frankly

Those in none "at risk" groups do not need to lock down at all - I've had C19 it seems (antibody) and didn't even notice !

they can use their common sense - anyone who thinks they are at risk should self isolate, those that don't shouldn't

I've had it, so has wife and kid most likely, didn't even notice, I'm not super fit and i'm 47 - there will always be a story but the stats show clearly now that white, fit under 60's are VERY rarely dying of C19

If you didn't notice it's doubtful you've had it .

the stats maybe not very PC but they are the stats !!

However imagine politically if they had announced that "all ethnic minorities, disabled , fat and unhealthy and old folk should lock down !" doubt that would have gone down well !

It will be “interesting” to see the effects of the recent protests

Btw I agree that lockdown has beggared our economy but if they go for a second lockdown in the winter, we might as well pack up especially if we have a no deal exit too

Putting bin out bumped into my neighbour ( at a distance ?) She told me they had visitors yesterday, having visitors tomorrow and off to see their son and grandchildren on the weekend. The two of them have held responsible jobs , he at quite a senior level, how don’t they understand the risk to themselves?

It will probably cause a small infection spike and as there was probably a lot of ethnic minority in the protest it will probably cause a small spike in deaths I reckon - if the protests had been all fit and healthy under 45's the stats say its would make no difference re deaths hardly at all - however it would increase infections and therefore herd immunity .............. and that's a GOOD thing for those in the at risk groups

Late 70’s, must be careful what I say but one has a health issue

crazy in that case !

if under 45 I would say get on with it, under 60 get on with it but be careful ! over 70, ethnic minority, fat or pre existing health issues ......... stay home, the likelihood of dying from c19 is as high as ever if not higher than ever in fact !
