1991? early 12/12 anyway with the older axle, only other I have seen with that was one we owned. I recently bought back a 399 3stcik of ours. we used to have two, 3 stick and as above, I preferred the 3 stick model but the shuttle did have a few more horses and so was traded in for a 3125 when the engine started to feel tight. I found them nice to work with, simple but a small cab.

Had 2 here, looking back I can’t believe the torture they put up with. Didn’t particularly like them, preferred fiat 100-90, but they were hardy machines.

If it was me use agco hc universal in the backend and axles. A higher spec than given but no relief valve vibration or brake squawk when hot/under pressure.

Look at the photo of the massey maintenance manual I posted, same oil front and back was always led to believe the front axle needed the 10w30 for the hydro diff.

Goodness, I spent thousands of hours on our one of those, clutch used to fail about every 1800hrs and the back end was basically the same as the old MF590 scraper tractor we had, and so used to crack the top casting with depressing regularity.
I think calling it a legend is stretching the definition of the word beyond breaking point, but nonetheless it's nice to see one in good nick.

14 ton dumper, 2250gal tanker, silage wagon, 15 ton digger on low loader she's just about to turn 19000hrs and we have never been in the back end yet. I built this farm on the back of that tractor, I dunno but to me that's a legend.

Remember seeing one with openers on the front and a bedtiller on the back on a YFC farm walk. About 7pm and the (ring) lad was starting night shift...stalled it with all us buggers watching?

Yes, thats all towing though, not lifting ploughs on the link arms etc.
Look, I learnt to drive on an MF390T and an MF399, the 390T in particular looked just right for a tractor, so I am fond of them, but they had their weaknesses, the 390t snapped its crankshaft I seem to remember.

I drove a turboed 1 that belonged to crawfords of the straid and it was a pure animal but worst part o them is the pickup hitch
