The ‘medium’ cup will struggle to fit on a teat that you need to strip out before a decent sized lamb can suck imo.

It is a highly heritable ime, which selection/culling can practically eliminate. Any here with teats like that certainly don’t see a ram again.

On the other hand, my mother always spoke fondly of our Colbred (a Milksheep cross) ewes years ago. You could (needed to!) milk a couple of pints of colostrum off each one and they would still have plenty for their lambs. :banghead:
Oooh Colbreds, there’s a blast from the past. I’m sure you could of milked pints off the ones we had, if you could of persuaded them to stand up long enough on their terrible feet.

I, like @neilo , have terrible 'aim' with a syringe. Two nights ago I failed misserably to hit a gerbil sized triplet with a slavery mouth, the Betamox went straight down the stomach tube, closely followed by 100ml of powdered colostrum. I then somehow managed to get another jab of Betamox in his @rse (y) ;)

As said, it doesn't work for all of 'em - the trick is to spot it in the early stages and keep them warm.
Happy to report that the gerbil is doing great and is now nearly sucking the end off his bottle.

Interested to see that other posters are using pen strep or oxytet. I find Betamox LA is the best against E.Coli (which is what I believe is the main cause of slavery mouth).

All v interesting, and something more to discuss with the vet next time around.

A drop of olive oil in the tubed colostrum helps a lamb shift meconium, we've found.
