Sprayer operator health check

It always makes me chuckle when you watch all the US guys on YouTube with no gloves or anything on. Was it millennial farmer on one of the videos said as it’s an insecticide I will put the gloves on, or Mike Mitchell with his hands in that Edge chemical they spread.

Insanity. As I said you are at the greatest risk when handling the concentrate and gloves are only the last line of defence against a splash. The trouble is that I doubt many of the ingredients in a typical agrochemical are that nasty but some do have known health effects from exposure, one example I can think of was the suspected association between aniline dyes (PDM) and bladder cancer but I don't think it was ever clearly established.

Webinar: Expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive offer 2024 -26th Sept

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
