Spraying of for a reseed

got a 15 acre field that I’m going to reseed after I take a cut off it. Got some roundup sitting to spray it. I’m not wanting to spray before we cut it but I’m wondering how soon can I spray after cutting? Will I need to wait a week or so so that it greens up again or not ?

Yes, maybe two or thee weeks to let any thing else green up enough for a kill. The longer the better.

Bugger!! Could do to get on with it sooner really as it’s a heavy clay field and nice and dry at moment. Is it worthwhile spraying it off? It’s not that dirty really few docks here and there that’s it.

If you’re good with a plough then crack on. Couch and rubbish could be a concern but you will have to be the judge of that. I’ve never had a problem with round up not killing docks myself.

I sprayed a field that was bad with rashes and docks last year before ploughing and ended up having to spray for docks this year again which was annoying

Not sure how long he's leaving it. Pretty sure some of the guys doing stale seedbeds are in pretty quick after round up.
Just didn’t want to spray then get caught with weather and not get it cut for a while as my neighbour did few years ago . Stuff just turned into dust through the chopper

If you want to go to the expense of a reseed, presumably you are less than happy with what’s there now. If you don’t spray it off, that will still be there.

I agree with above, at least a few weeks of growth needed in order for the glyphosate to be effective.

It was a field sown with spring wheat undersown with Italian ryegrass about 4 years ago so the Italian is about done now so putting back to a good permanent mix. Did think of overseeding a mix into it but it needs ploughed and levelled our as quite rough as was a wet time when we wholecropped it

Possibly could try that this time. Is it okay for grass with clovers in? Do u just spray straight after rolling the seed in or wait a week or so?

Spruce + Triad is about the only clover safe herbicide now I think. Even with that, the clover needs to be established (at least 3 leaves iirc) before spraying and it will only kill seedling weeds, not established ones that could be left if not spraying before.

Dong waste time and money on pre spray.

Good Seed suppliers will do a non clover seed mix for you. Then spray post emergence broad cast plenty of clover seed on later as soon as possible. Its a pity clover cang be sown and sprayed but thats thd way it is im afraid. Imo.

But Another reason i find is that Grass seed is better lightly harrowed in on the seedbed whereas clover just needs to be rolled else it will go tooo deep iyswim. Ime
