Spreading Fertiliser at 36m accurately

We are currently looking at changing our sprayer and fancy going to 36m. Our only worry is if we will still be able to spread granular fertiliser accurately. We have a Kuhn axis 40.2 and get good results at 28m. We would be spreading Yara bela extran and 0-0-60. Has anyone got any experience in spreading these at 36 with the Kuhn?

There are a few using urea @ 36m but everyone around here is liquid at that width. One local 36m solid user has a Kuhn AGT pneumatic. You'd want a very good grade of granules for urea through a spinner. Yara make one, despite slagging urea off in favour of their overpriced AN products! Extran is as good as Nitram.

I spread MOP to 36m with an old Amazone but the vanes are at the maximum setting to do so. All my N is liquid.

We have been chucking Yara urea through a Amazon’s zats to 36m and it seems to make a good job. As long as it’s well setup and you choose your days unless you have all the fancy wind reducing gadgets

Go liquid if going to 36m but I do know quite a few spreading accurately with new Kverneland’s..

They might think they are but I was told you can’t even see striping until you are more than 30% out

Given that N is most farms biggest single input spend and has the single biggest effect on yield why would anyone even accept 5% inaccuracy ?

I did say go liquid, ideally all N should go liquid regardless of boom width it still stacks up!

Several farmers local to us spread to 36m successfuly with Amazon and Kuhn machInes. 2 of them spread Urea ok (on calm days). Their days suitable for spreading are reduced though compared to 24m, one farmers operator has to be on the go at 4am spreading Urea to avoid the wind.

I would happily sell you a Sulky x40 or x50 to spread 36m. I’d also happily let you have it tray tested by an independent specialist to ensure you are happy! You wouldn’t spray in a 20mph wind. Like wise you wouldn’t speak in a 20mph wind and expect perfection. The beauty of big nigh capacity granular sprayers is you can go go go when it’s good conditions! 4 ton hopper
