Straining hinge joint mesh in tight places?

I have a few runs all on flat ground where i only have 16ft gap to strain hinge joint, 300m runs.

Thinking of using endless train and park tractor on angle so can get to draw bar or linkage.

Any other ideas for this style of work, i don't have two fence strainers to go top n bottom etc.

Could start with one wire and use gripples. Can go back over them a few times then.

If it’s a one off then bodge up some boundary strainers and pull them together with ratchet straps.
Just clamp the wire with 2 decent pieces of steel, bolt together really tight and weld some hooks on or drill some holes.

If you’re likely to need them again then buy the proper Kit, money well spent

I have proper walters hinge joint strainer board, just pulling it up in tight space, i dont think ratchet strap or single wire would pull up.

Gut strain is an option but a faff as well...

I think endless chain a good option? A electric winch would be ideal or even mechanical winch ? Geared.

Pallet forks. Park parallel to the fence with the forks a few feet beyond the post and tip them vertical. Take the wire round the post and wrap round the nearest fork. You should be able to strain by edging forward with the tractor, across your 16ft gap.
Has the added advantage you can tweak the forks to even up the pull top and bottom.

Endless chain should work a treat, just a 500kg sized one is pretty good for jobs

If you have a strainer board and a winch you just pull it to your strainer post, you don't need any gap or tractor.

Ive got one used once to keep a sheep suspended, id like to try it as id like something more controlled than a 140hp tractor and me guessing etc.

There are 5 tonne winches on ebay as well.

we bought a 'proper' one years ago, makes straining stock fence easy, attach it to a tractor loader, either pull it, or if in a corner, drive into the corner.

ours seems to spend quite a lot of time, 'on loan' !

These work okish, only done 2 strains thus far.

If i was contracting id have an electric winch mounted to linkage so can adjust height which definitely helps, or a remote controlled bobcat which a few are using for fence post driver.

Sometimes easier to pull from both ends to a stainer in middle of run especially if ends are both in corners.

Yes I like that you can be so damn strong yet so gentle with the endless chain. Don't know what I'd do without it sometimes !

I like this little one as the chain is relatively light and not hard to 'spin up' or hold in one hand while clipping the stupid kiddy-lock hooks on...
..my big chain block is just too heavy and unwieldy for anything other than heavy lifting.

Think a normal HT is at about 160-180kg tension when tight, but an 8 line net wouldn't be 8 times that (or anywhere near it) when pulled up, that's why it's got the kinks. It's a stretched item

Did it leave you with plenty of room to work / tie off?
That's usually the issue I have with net, looks good when done but I am the "if you aint bleeding you aint fencing" mascot.

Most of the contractors here strain in the middle of runs with a row of triplex, expensive and crummy looking IMO

I have chain at strainer end, then endless up at linkage, i slso usually have to use fence strainer to pull up bottom of strainer board so its proper vertical.

The t clips means you bleed less and reduces the hinderances when tying off.

If tying knots off you bleed, i tie off the loose end and t clip the strainer end, much tighter and easier.

A gauge would be handy,so get strains tension consistent.

Molly only pull so far then use chain for rest.

warmth have a manual gauge that clips over the wire. The needle lines up with all manner of wire gauges. Or you can buy a gauge like I got with my last fence strainers. Reads to max 300kg
