And will fodder, hay, haylage etc, be worth more.
I know there’s plenty around this year, but might be a better buying in fodder than fertiliser

i think soilsampling is overvalued having gone from 6 years of GPS sampling to random samling i think we will feed the crop we have there and save some inputs , ive had enough of jobs for the boys and pretty pictures.
We went from -0 for P, to -2/+3 in 4 years. "Precision" sampled (Both Soyl and Rhiza). Never put any P on, baled all the straw. Yields are good. Sampling is flawed. Saved high thousands. Completely agree.

If want it sampled properly you need to do it yourself, you know where the muck heaps were years ago old hedge lines etc

That stands to reason. Luckily I didn’t need to do any myself. But when the same samples sent, consistently return different P indices, it doesn’t inspire confidence in the testing either. Unfortunately, these tests appear to be mandatory every 4 years now, too.

I think it's a lottery, had a full spectrum done this time on our 10 arable fields, the P K and Mg levels were similar to the last tests but the sulphur levels were far higher as were the copper, could make some decent savings on the sulphur but if the test results are wrong suffer losses, guess I'm going to have to do some tissue tests next spring, but some say they arent any more reliable.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
