Funny enough was watching Ollie’s videos recently. Last year was around 1t/ac cut 11th October although he was using a 5.4m standard header which did look very odd attached to his 8700
why the small header ?
He bent his one cutting mustard I think and it was the only the dealer had spare
oh ! i don’t watch it often but when i do there usually seems to be damage or disaster ! maybe farming one handed has its drawbacks
wouldn’t be cheap bending a convio flex ! did it repair or write off ?
Changed the combine.

I can’t watch it, so many disasters. Too much time spent videoing and not concentrating…
i reckon we would be uninsurable or bust if we had anything like the disasters / accidents/ breakdowns/ getting stuck etc ……… i would certainly be questioning my choice of employees !
modern kit is pretty good and really very reliable now and if not abused with good operators problems really are a rare occurrence which really is just as well as the margin to do expensive repairs on a seemingly daily basis really isn’t there - when i do watch it I feel like my guys deserve a wage rise !
that said, like Clarksons farm I suspect a lot is just for the camera / click bait etc really ?

Plenty of people watch those sorts of channels though. I’ve had several non farming friends ask why I don’t have a channel.

Dont think he is claiming on his insurance for breakdowns and getting stuck.
I dont think he is farming one handed any more than anyone else who runs another business alongside the farm.

i imagine a bent convio flex is a lumpy insurance claim. - best part of a 100k header !
i know it’s for the clicks probably but the daily disasters seem common where as by comparison they are (thankfully) extremely rare here, i can’t actually recall a significant breakdown here in the last 12 months and it’s been years since we had anything stuck, it makes me appreciate my employees a lot more !
Saw our first claim for a written off convio flex header this harvest. Clives value on a 12 metre one is about spot on. Client had brand new replacement within 7-10 days and lent a conventional header from Dealer the next day. Service was impressive from Claas.
There is a big hydraulic reservoir runs along the back of the header which has the potential to act as a fire accelerant possibly. Very common to get claims for replacement header augers due to stone/foreign object damage on conventional headers, obviously no risk of this on a convio type. Belts, even if damaged are a lot cheaper to replace than a 12m auger
