Swapping 7 pin wiring for 13 pin

I’ll be picking up a new livestock box soon and it will come with 13 pin wiring fur things like reversing light and internal lights.

Truck only had 7pin socket on board from new. (Hilux)

How big a job would it be to convert the truck wiring to 13pin to get full functionality on the box?

I hate trailer wiring at the best of times!

Thanks

Get a convertor ,,my new truck was 13 pin but trailer is 7,,just bought a pre wired 7-13 and its ok

Converter will work for the indicators. Tail lights, running lights. But won’t power the internal lights, reversing lights.

I use a converter on another flat bed but would like full function with the new stock box

If your truck only has 7 pin ,,there wont be a feed for internal lights or reversing ,,the only spare in a 7 is the blue wire buts general used for fog lights

Yes, that's why I ask :

Depend if your truck has cambus relays ,,most modern wiring isnt just a case of scotch looking into a lume ,,the ecu has to recognise what has been added ,,other than taking it to an auto electrics shop or a caravan specialist ,,you could soon end up in bother

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-H...434959&hash=item41dbef0aac:g:2nIAAOSwPedak-H6 , order up a dedicated loom for the as shown , makes the job simple , you take off the tail lights of your truck and with the plugs provided with loom its just a case of joining them up , no wire cutting or splicing .

Thanks, just looked, that says it is not compatible with LED lights, the trailer comers with them as standard.

But it gives me hope there is a harness out there that will work I hope.

it will work with leds , but the little black box is a buzzer to let you know that your indicaters are working will not buzz with leds

your trailer will have a junction box fitted , look in there for the 2 indicator wires and add a resistor to each wire , it just adds more load to your wiring to trigger the buzzer or the indicator lights on your dash , you still have to check your indicators before leaving as the buzzer is telling you that indicator wiring to the buzzer is correct and not all the way to the led , dum i know . the resistors can be got on ebay for a fiver

I don’t think I have a buzzer or indicator in the cab. Certainly never heard or seen anything when using my other non led trailers.

It’s a current model hilux

Aside from a reversing light I can't see what the other 6 wires do , more EU bull
3 of them are earth ,one is reversing and the other is constant power ,,( if a caravan had a trickle feed to a leisure battery ,,the rest are just the same as a 7pin
Selecting and using the right socket - 7-pin or 13-pin plug?
