For some reason I was reading that Sweden was a great farming country, with a mild climate & great soils (The south that is)

I was shocked but looking on a map, The southern tip of Sweden is well to the south of Lincolnshire & surrounded by the sea.

There was a time when Sweden controlled a big chunk of Russia, Finland & Ukraine, I never knew it was such a country

The most southern point of sweden is about as northern as 30 miles north of newcastle.

yes, visited more countries through that than holidays- as my wife reminds me .
agrolux , vaderstadt, chameleon drill. Very tidy, well equipped farms that I saw

Swedes appear to grow grain maize, that's risky anywhere in UK.

Only 7,5% of sweden is arable land, most in the south.
I've visited Vaderstad 2 times and seen some of the the southern area.

Its total area is twice as big as England Scotland and Wales 173, 000 sq miles as compared to 82,000 ish

The total area. It’s a very big country. In Denmark we have about 60% arable, but from a much much smaller total.
