Tea and Coffee

Anyone know how much caffeine in a mug of coffee v mug of tea?
After reading this thread yesterday I googled this earlier today. General view was coffee has twice caffeine of tea but of course there are many variables as to how strong each is made and brand.
I have up coffee a few years ago and now drink flavoured teas instead. Still like a mug of Yorkshire tea at tea time. I think I was immune to the stimulus effect of caffeine when drinking a lot of coffee. Since giving up the odd coffee I have had does now give me a boost but try to avoid in general.

I used to work in tea and coffee in Africa. It seems that the caffeine in coffee is released quickly into the acid conditions in the stomach, but in tea it is bound with the polyphenols and is only released much later and slower in the intestines

I understand tea contains a fair dose of tannin whilst can slow the absorption and digestion of nutrients so may even act as an appetite suppressant I guess?
Yeah thats a down side, but I dont drink tea or coffee with a cooked meal for that matterand for a fair while after... like having say a nice sunday beef roast etc supposed to spoil iron absorption amongst other things like you say

Tannins (astringent) and directic nature of it means it will draw suppleness out of yer muscles , joints etc...tgats where they aches and pains can come from...I get them a fair bit.:cautious: tbh.

Healthy alternative would be a glass or 2 of cider vinegar each day but I think I'll stick with me nice English tea habit :giggle::unsure: .....for now...

Decided to give up drinking tea and coffee a few weeks ago as i was drinking far to much

Had a terrible headache for the first few days which only served to make me realise just how much of a drug caffeine must be !

few weeks on and i don’t miss it one bit, i'm sleeping far better and feel generally much better, drinking a lot more water as a result and dropped about 150-200kcal a day without having to eat any less !

maybe give it a go ?
Bottled water is fine in vehicles but after that i never touch it..... its gotta be something with far more go about it for me...
Coffee addict i'll admit that, tea not so much
odd tin of sugar free or diet fizzy stuff once in a while maybes a couple a week tho.
Ive just boiled the kettle, Nescafe its gonna be
cheers :ROFLMAO:

Anyone got any good ideas to replace tea and coffee with then? Stopped taking sugar in both and don't miss it anymore. Used to have a pint mug of one or the other every morning with 4 sugars in and then another at about midday with dinner. 8 big spoonfuls a day can't have been doing me much good....
Trying to find something that isn't full of caffeine because that is bound to cause it's own problems. Tried fruit teas and they're a bit unsatisfying in the way tea or coffee is. Wasn't keen on decaff Nescafé maybe I'll just have to get used to it 🤷‍♂️

Try a tea spoon of honey and a squirt of lemon juice, left over from pancake day😀. Cool it down with a bit of cold water.

Like most things food and drink related, everything in moderation, I do like coffee, but I only ever have 1-2 a day maximum, then just lots of water, add bit of lemon or slice of lime, haven't drunk fizzy drinks in any quantity for years and rarely drink it with anything else added, once you get used to it its easy.

Try Rooibos. Not a fruit tea - you can have with or without milk. My only type.of tea now.

You can also get different flavours of tea - earl and lady grey, lapsang Souchong, Darjeeling, might be worth trying some of these?
