Telehandler for £20k ish

Time to replace our New Holland LM430 telehandler, as it's pretty shagged.
We also run an old jcb410. Will be used daily but not for hours on end.

Is getting something decent, reliable and good hours possible for 20k.

Dont want a construction model jcb. Have looked at a 536-60 which was within budget, but didn't like the hours clock.
7m reach would be more ideal

Much as you don't want a construction spec machine. I bought a 3year old jcb 531-70 construction spec with 1600 hours on it 4 years ago and have put another 8000 on it with few problems (a forward reverse solenoid and oil cooler) it has a 100 hp turbo engine and we put a pick up hitch on all told it cost us £ 26000. I would have had another similar but all I could find at the time last year had smaller engines so I went for a Class Scorpion which admittedly is a lot nicer to use but for their money the right construction spec machine is a very good buy. If you can find one with a joystick and a larger engine then adding a pick up hitch is fairly easy.

My mate is moaning like mad as he works in a water treatment plant and handles all the solid waste with a new construction spec manipoo on contract hire to his employer which has replaced a Claas Scorpion that he loved but the Manipoo takes around three times longer to move the same amount of solids as it’s just has no power as just can’t drive and move any hydraulic functions at the same time and cuts out hydraulic functions for fun . Loading lorries is just embarrassing for him.

Yes that's the problem last year I looked at several 535-95 machines but they had the smaller tier 4 engines although they had joysticks and air con I didn't think they'd be up to farm work especially here at 6000 ft. When I used my Scorpion at home on bales it was a revelation but another 531-70 like the one we still have would have been perfectly acceptable.

Hydraulic pump is the main issue and its lack of any power. Once oil is hot it is now almost unusable.
We spoke about it a few months ago if you remember. The uj on the front left went snap. So I have the other 3 to consider.

Construction spec manitou got more power than the jcb I think so good job he didnt get one of them

Can fix cut outs with cable tie but for a machine working in industrial/construction I wouldnt do it/recommend. The potential for having an inexperienced driver jump on it is far greater I feel.

No problem at all if you just want to drive it slowly around the yard for half hour a day

If its fairly new machine has anyone calibrated the load sensor , I'm told they cut hydraulic's out more frequently when a calibration is required

If you consider 10,000 hrs as good then you might be able to get a telehandler for that but even still 20k doesn't buy a lot these days..

Dont reckon much change from £3k. That's with getting local indy to do it.
