So here is the T2 plan

Plot 1 (BASF)
1.25 L Librax
1.0 L Bravo

Plot 2 (Bayer)
1.0L Aviator

Plot 3 (TWB) rest of field (farm practice)
1.25 L Adexar

all plots will also be getting 2.5L /ha of Maxi-Phi M&M (Mag and and Mang) plus 5L/ha Foliar K in the mix
Applications rate will be our standard farm practice 100L/ha through guardian air nozzles (back/fwd facing) at 12kph

aiming to apply tomorrow - bit windy and chance of showers here today

I'm upping my Aviator to 1.25lt and that will be all thats in the tank fungicide wise. Will be with K-man plus, some boron and some copper. Maybe some starane here and there, or might map the cleavers as I go.

Last year I put 1l CFL on leaf 2 this year because of weather 1 block got a t 1.5 the rest gets flag spray to day and tomorrow
Next year will do a t 1.5 as protection of each leaf is by far the best option it's just the trade do not think that farms are capable of the work load
This year it would have been easier to do the t1 then plan in the t 1.5 and t 2 and have all leaves protected fully much less pressure on the operator and machine as 2 days late with t1.5 or t2 would not cost compared with 2 days late with t2 with no t1.5 at 24 would be costly

Best prices I can get today on products for fair comparison

Aviator £33.30 /L
Adexar £29.00 /L
Bravo £4.65
Librax £32.50

So plot to date costs

Plot 1 BASF

T0 £10.40
T1 £33.65
T2 £45.27

Total £87.33

Plot 2 Bayer

T0 £10,40
T1 £37.95
T2 33.30

Total £81.65

Plot 3 TWB

T0 £10.40
T1 £33.30
T2 £36.25

Total £/ha £79.95

So T2 applied today

£7.38/ha more spent on the most expensive plot vs the cheapest - at say £140/t for milling wheat that's an extra 0.05t/ha needed from the BASF plot to beat farm practice or an extra £25.68 (or 0.18t/ha) extra output over the Bayer plot needed to prove the £20 more margin per ha claimed

what do you reckon - money well spent ?

I think due to its good press the Librax is at an over stated premium price above Adexar. For that spend on Librax you could have got 1.4L/ha Adexar, or even drop the CTL and you could have had 1.56L/ha for the same spend. I know which I would have gone with!

I've no idea. If this goes quiet we'll know the answer. The winner will be noisier...

You can bet on that ! but you know I will post the results whatever the outcome !

It's not a massive amount yield more for BASF to get to prove there £20/ha claim

All plots will be treated the same now until harvest

What I'm interested in is to see if we get any difference in greening that's noticeable - would be good to fly a drone over the plots n a few weeks time maybe ?

I have access to a drone for both video and stills, happy to bring it up in the next few weeks, depending on the weather from now on, unlikely to see real greening differences for at least a month. CTL was added to T2 for anti resistance reasons to protect the SDHI.

We have a bit of leaf tipping following T2 especially in JB diego but Skyfall as well.

Any in the trial and any difference in treatments if there is.

Did you leave an untreated plot ? If so how is it looking ?

Update !

T3 on all plots was a well timed Teb / Ctl mix

We got into this crop yesterday evening and took of headlands and most of the none plot area.

It rained here last night so not cutting today, plan when it drys up is to cut the top and bottom off the plots as I did when we ran the TFF dril trial, this will leave us 350m long with 5x12.3m header widths in each of the 3 plots and 1 header width between each plot - the harvest plot size will be 2.15 ha we will record combine weight and weighbridge weight and quality including moisture, protein and kg/hl

so place your bets ! will this season prove BASF claim of £20/ha extra margin right or wrong ??

Hi Clive
I've read back through the thread but obviously there has been a lot of different information discussed.
Could you post the three fungicide programs again please?

T1

Plot 1 (BASF)
1.0 L Adexar
1.0 L Bravo

Plot 2 (Bayer)
1.0L Aviator
1.0L Bravo

Plot 3 (TWB) rest of field (farm practice)
1.0 Aviator

T2

Plot 1 (BASF)
1.25 L Librax
1.0 L Bravo

Plot 2 (Bayer)
1.0L Aviator

Plot 3 (TWB) rest of field (farm practice)
1.25 L Adexar

Interesting. Do you think a true test of the sdhis would have been to leave out the bravo on the company programs? Seems bizarre that they are propping up their claims with old chemistry whereas you are not on your own program.

The company plots were based on what they advise. Entire point is to test the BASF £20/ha extra margin claim with Adexar over aviator really

Winner will be best margin which maybe not the best yield of course !

Was too wet to cut here yesterday so we moved the combine 20 miles up the road. To a different crop, probably won't get back to this field until Sunday / Monday now
