I know Andrew and took winter keep from him last winter for about 150 ewes/rams.

The farm is in a very interesting situation. Bang along side the Exe Estuary on one side, 2 other sides are right up to the edge of Exmouth town and the 4th side is against a big and posh hotel/restaurant and its grounds. (The type of place where helicopters fly in guests as they scared the crap out of me one day when I was checking sheep there)

The farm itself is 100% grass and he runs a few sheep of his own plus sells grass in summer to another local farm. As its on a major cycle path and surrounded by footpaths and right next to town he has diversified with a small cafe and farm shop selling just his own meat.

Biggest earner for him though is the dog walking field he started some years ago, prob making £30k plus a year.

He has zero good things to say about the trust.

This is why you should never leave anything in wills to these kind of organisations. I get cross seeing them on the TV , asking to leave something to them in a will.
I see those adverts sometimes if Mrs Y has the tv on when I'm in for lunch.

Absolutely shocking, blatant and it would seem shameless coffin chasing.

Zero decency or scruples in any organisation prepared to act in such a manner in my opinion.

would be far quicker to boat across for you than go around the road? :D

further back from there but i recall a Bicton College disbudding calves session at Mr Hallets place, dairy farm straddling the main road , iirc  bit later on traffic lights/crossing were put there by highways for their cows to cross was a long time ago though .

Daughter flew her drone over once yo check sheep. It was in the edge of the range and I was more than a tad worried it would ditch in the mud!!!

From reading the article would it not mean breech of contract and therefore the National trust would no longer own the property?
It should therefore be passed to his closest living relative.
Good luck getting the powers that be to support that.
Just because it is the National trust, council, Scottish power, whoever,, does not mean they are immune from rules. I do know they get away with murder either way.
There us a couple up by Inverness who have issues over a boundary with Network rail, it seems accepted the couple is correct but Network rail still send the boys round in the form of the transport police.
I dont know the full facts in that case but it is going on right now and they are using the only protection they have and that is to record everything and put it on YouTube. Anyone know more details on this one?

Many of these "Charitable" bodies employ nasty, vindictive Solicitors, to chase up bequests to an appalling level. My SiL had close up and personal experience of this, a few years back as an Executor. Scumbags were trying to get a widow out of the farmhouse that her late Husband had left to them along with some farmland, totally ignoring her Rights.

If you must leave something, then leave a fixed sum is my view.... NOT a %.
