Anyone risking it? Breeders say safe upto first week in March, had set myself the 10th of March as my cut off, drill may go end of this week, first half of next :unsure:

4t here of Skyfall and going to save it for next year now, lands still to wet having had a look today. 4t of S Wheat and an additional 3t if S Barley waiting to fill the gap in the Winter cereal rotation.

I'd set myself the 14th March as a cut-off and can't see that happening. It's more a guess on what the weather will do more than anything else - still getting a few cold nights for sure, spring hasn't arrived yet. Crops don't know what date it is after all.

Went and picked up the Cousins Patriot this afternoon, just for curiosity dropped it in the field with the discs lifted up, the 5 legs didn’t disturb the ground, just left 5 slots ?

That just about sums it up !!!
I’ve got 26 acres of sand destined for skyfall. Sheep still on the cover crop. Due to 170 acres out of 190 acres of grass under water until end of last week.

Someone taken on new ground next to them near me has done around 75 acs Monday/ Tuesday. Will be very intresting keeping an eye on that, right next to main road and full view !

Well said. Spring cereals can be grown very cheaply without losing any yield potential. I think more people need to work out their gross margins and re evaluate risk/reward!

Yup but spring wheat has been like hens teeth since Nov and I have double the spring barley area I was planning so this is a rather exceptional year
