Tractor servicing costs

When I hear of these prices to service expensive new stuff, I’m glad I buy cheap old stuff, and pretty much don’t service it at all apart from changing oil and filters myself.

Yes, that doesn't answer my question though. When shell is on a JD production run, is the product the same as the next customer and they just swap the label on the barrels or does each customer have their own blend with different additives?
It’ll be the same. There are even fewer additive technology suppliers than lubricant blenders.

There's nothing to be scared of, they're all still made out of nuts and bolts, running with oils and filters, no matter how new the machine is.

The only thing that changed is people insist of "having it serviced" because they think they can't do it themselves.

Would be 20l engine oil and nester 100l of backend oil on a 1200hr service
So they charged £72 for 10l of engine oil and £323 for around 60l of UTTO?
What all else did they do in a service to charge £2400?
Haven’t had the bill yet but was quoted £1200 for a 1200 hour service on a 150 maxxum.
All filters and oils changed including hubs and axles, even greased every grease nipple and checked all lights.

Is it about 3000 hours on the bigger fpt engines (puma size) that you have to take the rocker cover off and change a filter on the engine breather.? .
Even the mechanics say its not a great job to do but it needs done. I wonder how many farmers doing their own servicing bother!.
