Situation Vacant Trainee Herdsman (or woman)

Generational family farm of medium size 230-250 cows, with some arable land and beef cattle, seeking Herdsman. Looking for the right person to fit into an established team, with the opportunity to take on day to day running of a Dairy Herd after a suitable period of training. This would include vigilance regarding animal health and taking appropriate action, administering medication, and reporting concerns. Required 7 to 10 milkings per week. Detailed explicit training provided and the opportunity to gain certification in animal health and other related fields.

Job suitable for someone who wants stability in a long-term role, who is conscientious, dedicated, and willing to learn. Must be prepared to participate in all farm duties. The right candidate will be enthusiastic and have good attention for detail, be punctual and committed.

Webinar: Expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive offer 2024 -26th Sept

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
