Does anyone know what the true definition of a soft yellow turnip is, been trying to get a answer for a environmental scheme is it stubble turnip

I think just a normal turnip not a quick growing stubble turnip. ie It is not a swede but a maincrop turnip.

Sorry to hijack but when would u sow turnips & could u straight into a field that’s just been silaged? This showery weather they should germinate quick ??

Just trying to think of something I could put in for the ewes pre lambing , said field is quite a dry field in winter

Stubble turnips be cheaper option or some fresh grass

Massif or Green Globe would be varieties of soft yellow turnips. Personally I wouldn't class a stubble turnip as a soft yellow turnip.

You can have yellow stubble turnips and yellow maincrop , would need to know the variety
You can get a variety called yellow turnips mind , but they are for human consumption

No you would have to burn off for Brasicas into grass
Clover and Chicory would work of its open enough, but that's more of a longer term feed , not quick and bulky

Grass will smother them unless it’s sprayed off

They make life complicated
