Minus 8 here. We are now in a routine of carting water to the pigs. Currently about 4000 head from 15 to 100 kg. Using about 3000 gallons to about 40 pens. Approx 3 hours work for one man.
One year I spent the whole of February doing nothing but thawing pipes for pigs on a farm in Essex. My God it was grim!
I had actually forgotten how grey and cold an Essex winter can be.

Nice enough day here today, no frost.
 
I’m fed up with it, makes potato storing and grading hard work.

We managed it in ‘63’
At least they’re getting muck off with a pick. At sharpest temps tunnelled under to get spuds out, then collapse and clear, before moving rocker up.
